Had a surgeon and surgery date set. However I felt really uncomfortable. I decided to meet with another surgeon at a different hospital. I am so glad I did. We connected much better and I felt he had a better plan. I need to lose 15 pounds to have a better outcome. I have 10 weeks to do it. I meet with him again late August. We will re-evaluate if I am ready. Hopefully I will have surgery September 9th.

I love it when I hear about people listening to their gut feelings:)   Stay strong and you will drop the 15 pounds in the 10 weeks.  The closer you are to your ideal weight, the better the results.  I also went through the same thing before my tummy tuck and glad I did.

I am excited for you and will be anxious to see your before and after pictures.  Take weekly photos now as you are dropping the weight.  It will really motivate and excite you to see the progress.

May I ask who you are going with and who you had picked first? I'm in the beginning stages of goosing a surgeon in springfield and there isn't much to go from!! Also what is your current weight/ height? I'm not to my "goal" weight but am happy where I am. Wondering if that might be a problem

Sorry I just saw I had posts today. I didn't realize that it showed in the top corner. I will do better on replying. Before I answer about the Dr I have to say I work at one hospital and my husband works at the other. Both have several good choices. I first saw Dr Shah at mercy. I then had a consultation with Dr Shaw at cox. I had a better feeling and overall experience with him. I weighed 198 and I am 5'4" . I had gastric bypass 9 years ago at 307. I am down to 188. The lowest I stayed after bypass was 175 to 180. I have never been small. Hope that helps.

Hello, mrs46146! I am glad that you followed your 'gut feelings' and found a surgeon that you are more comfortable with. That is very important! How are you doing in the weight loss? I was having an almost impossible time. Now that my thyroid is under control and shows "normal range", my weight and health seem to be doing much better. I am hoping that you get your surgery on September 9th too! It seems that you probably will and I am very excited for you! Please keep us updated and know we are here for you!

Totally understand about thyroid. I had mine checked a couple weeks ago and it is below normal. They have increased my armour thyroid again. I have lost 10 pounds so far. Sorry I haven't posted sooner. I didn't even realize there were replies to my post.

Sorry mrs46146! It didn't show up that you had posted this either! How are you doing? Are you going to do any new updates to your review to see what is going on with you now? I take Synthyroid and it has helped me so far. I have heard of Armour from some Thyroid boards. I was only dx 2 1/2 years ago, but apparently needed it MUCH sooner! Yay for losing 10lbs! I wasn't moving for a very long time! Somehow I have lost 5 lbs and I couldn't be happier! I usually only lose 2lbs every 3 months, so losing 5lbs in a couple weeks made me very happy. I guess it will be easier now as my thyroid is in "normal" range finally. I have Hypothyroidism so my metabolism is like a speed bump usually. lol

Thank u! I haven't taken a picture since my appointment a month ago. I will definitely do that. I tried taking measurements but with so much extra skin on my stomach area I didn't feel like it was accurate. Thanks for the advice.

congratulations on your weight loss! Besides the obvious (eating less and exercising more), what strategies did you use to lose the weight??
August 17, 2015
Thanks! Sorry I dididn't do anything special. I am eating 1,250 calories , about 100 grams of protein and 30 minutes of exercise a day. Once a week I pick a meal to eat off plan. This has helped with my anniversary and birthdays in august. It isn't easy and I couldn't do this for very long. Fear was my motivation because I didn't want my surgery to not happen or be postponed.

Your tummy looks like mine did, but mine was much larger. I don't know if you have noticed, but being on this board has helped me realize that our bodies look like a lot of other people's. I think you are very brave and hope that you love your new tummy. In a bit, I am going to have my hubby help me post my own 'befores" and some "afters" photos. You can see how much of a difference it is for me even with the swelling.

You are 10 days away! How are you feeling? Excited? I would definitely get a walker and toilet seat riser. LOTS of pillows too. :)

I would live to see your pictures! My pictures look so much worse than ones I see. I think I just see the worst in myself. I am super nervous. I am taking two weeks and a day off. I hope it is enough. I am picking up a toilet seat riser on Monday and borrowing a walker. Thanks so much for telling me. I thought of those but I wasn't sure if I was going overboard. I got a robe today with pockets to put the bulbs.

I have updated my review with my before and some after photos if you would like to go take a look. I do not think yours is the worst on here. Not by a long shot! {{HUGS}} I know that it can feel that way though. I actually liked looking around the site at pictures of everyone. It made me realize that my body has done what a lot of other Mommy bodies have done over the years of pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight gain, weight loss, and with aging. I could not find a body shape {tummy especially} as large and protruding as mine. I decided to post the before/afters so that other ladies coming along could see that they aren't alone in their body shapes and what they may expect with a tt.

I definitely could not have done without the walker, toilet seat riser, or shower chair. We got the shower chair with the back on because I don't think I could have kept myself up that long. I still can't stand up straight and not sure how long this will last. I also can't say enough about having LOTS & LOTS of pillows. I have two for my back, one for my head, one to sit on, two to raise my legs, and one to hold my stomach. {For coughing, getting up, riding in car, protecting my tummy from animals & kids. lol
I love your idea about the robe pockets to hold your drain bulbs. Very smart!

It is getting closer to your time to be on the flat side!! Yay!!! We are here for you! {{{{BIG HUGS}}}
