Had mastectomy with amazing Breast surgeon, had reconstruction with Dr Johnson (tissue expanders placed with allomax, & 4 drains- 2 on each side). Got cellulitis after new drain placed to remove seromas- 1st drain wasn't placed right- so needed a new one put in.
Stayed a week in hospital getting rid of cellulitis on IV meds. Afraid expanders would come out, but luckily infection was corrected.
Love the staff, especially her PA Kristina. Staff is courteous, kind, caring, & office is beautiful! Easy to see Dr or nurse if complications arise. Dr called me herself to check on me in between operations when I had the Cellulitus from new drain placement.
Looking forward to my Tissue Expander fills in a month or so (have had drain for a total of 41 days today) and getting drain removed this coming week (will have had drain for total of 46 days). Will let body heal & then after 5-8 weeks will get my first expansion fill.
She keeps your best interest in mind. She's direct, let's you know what she needs to do, & does what she feels is necessary, while keeping your thoughts and feelings in mind.
I recommend her to other patients, even with the cellulitis and hospitalization I had. She is very much on top of her game & knows what to do for emergent issues.

Thanks for sharing. I did my chemo in Springfield but had the surgery done in Boston. Got bilateral cancer at 36 and am getting over the same process; about a year and a half out now. Haven't met many younger women in western mass with these experiences. I'd be happy to connect sometime and compare war stories!

You look amazing!! I have an up coming TT with her on 8/20, I am so nervous and anxious have been for a while.. Feel selfish for doing this although I was told by my PT that it would be a good first start because of my pelvic floor issues and the weigh loss of 100lbs as the extra laying on my stomach.. But still freaking out about it.. Enough about me I am glad to see someone who has done work with her and is very happy with her..it's very helpful.. Once again you look amazing!!

Pics of Breast Implants (from Tissue Expanders)

Here are my pics of what I look like with and w/out a sports bra post-op 1 week after surgery! I went direct to implants after my tissue expander on left side ruptured at only 160cc's full, from severe scarring from cellulitis (had a drain for 45 days).
I decided to show my face, because my prayer is to help educate others about nipple sparing double mastectomy and tissue expanders and implants. I started my process of the mastectomy on 9/23/14 (60cc's of saline placed into expanders)~ had a seroma develop on left side, so had a new drain placed which caused redness & swelling....... Hospitalized with cellulitis on 10/20/14 for 7 days, then received 2 fills into my tissue expanders of only 50cc's each of saline until I awoke on 1/18/15 with a completely flat left side :'( I had ruptured...... Emergency surgery scheduled for 1/22/15 for new direct-to-implants and was able to have surgeon fit Sientra Smooth Moderate Profile 320cc into each side (highly cohesive gel). I was hoping for larger, hoped for high profile, wished for at least 375cc, for cleavage, but am happy with my outcome. I finally can look down and see boobies again after months of no chest! Lol. ;)
I'm praying my journey helps others and if you are in my area, I pray you go see Dr. Melissa Johnson & Staff! They are AMAZING!

after all that scar tissue formation are they worried about capsular contracture with using implants? are those implants textured? I have read cases of the texturing slophing off and causing immune reactions which it sounds like you already have an issue with.....your results look nice but you ought to read Kathy steligos book on reconstruction and have a back up plan in place ,,I fear implants may cause you harm but I certainly hope not....please keep us posted

Hi. :) The implants I have are smooth "Sientra" brand. But they are moderate profile and I was hoping for full profile. I have a flattish appearance which happened when the swelling went down. LOVED day 1-9! Lol the swelling & fullness was amazing. During the implants being placed surgery, they successfully got rid of my major scarring (capsular contracture) and my left side actually feels softer than my right side now. ;) I've seen my dr and am "hoping" to go back in and get the TE's (though I don't like them, but now that the scarring is gone, I feel they will work & get me tithe desired size I'd like of 425cc's). I'm waiting to hear back from the surgeon. I've had a lot of pain and was told week 3-5 is the most painful in healing because the muscles are getting back to where they need to be, etc. I'm hoping they say yes! I'm willing to get a picc line in my arm and get vancomycin to be proactive against any bacteria since I'm prone to infections. Now it's just a waiting game.....I'm VERY unhappy with my appearance at this point- very flat and no projection from the side. And since I'm in pain, I pray my surgeon allows me to just get the TE's again and get to 425cc and get these same implants in the high profile. :) Now I'm just praying they say YES! ;)

Talk to your ps. Implants do not have much projection. Ask the doc about fat grafting. I have heard it is great. I am very unhappy with my implants due to the reduction in size (even a padded bra doesn't give me anywhere the former size and projection. and the muscle flattens the implants right across the center when I pick up anything with any weight. It looks horrible. Please have a long talk with your doctor before final surgery.

Thank you very much. :) I saw a NEW PS after prior PS said "no more surgery" and the new surgeon is performing surgery 4/13 to place new Sientra Textured implants (round) high profile between 545-595cc's :) I'm thrilled that I'll get a redo of my not-so-great job and can be satisfied with projection and size. Since my last post, my implants have sunken in, sank downwards past my incisions causing pain (unable to wear a bra), indentations like a donut has been placed on my breasts, excess skin, etc. they look like the beginning of TE fills?! It's so strange. Insurance approved the fix and I'm so excited. I'll add new pics from 2 days ago.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I will be beginning this process 48 hours before your revision. I am having double mx on 4/10. I was curious initially your PS specialized in anatomical 410 and thought that was the direction you were originally going ( so sorry you had to go through cellutis and t/e problems). Curious why the rounds were placed and not the gummy anatomical 410. I have also heard there is an extra full projection on them but still in thier natural teardrop shape. I am very concerned too about not having upper pole fullness/ or natural projection and appearing flat where you mention. Was it the moderate profile that maybe flattened out due to muscle compression and curious why you and your original PS decided not to use the 410's? I hope all your surgeries are behind you after the 13th.

I hope your journey came out good? I know how hard it is to NOT have the results we expected. What a long and painful process. I'm finally in a great place. Love my results. I have a few dents, but I'm OK. Going to church once again is certainly helping me get to where I need to be emotionally. I'm hoping you're also enjoying your results? You're in my thoughts. I've updated pics to show the process. I have 2 accounts- my old one and this newer one with a new review of my new surgeon. ;)

I unfortuntly am having issues and still have expanders in but they need to come out. something wasnt done right on one side. You deserve to be happy with what you see in mirror after all you have been through. Original plan was to use gummy shaped on me but I may end up with rounds and very concerned with lots of rippling due to very thin skin and nothing left post masectomy. Why do you think you had loose skin first time. It looks so nice and smooth now. I hope the IMF pain has decreased for you where they stitched the extra skin. Any tips or advice from this journey. Every doc has a different opinion and can get confusing for patient.

Thank you for sharing . I am going to get the same procedure starting in April with the masectomy and then do the reconstruction process. Any tips or advice? They will be doing a sentinol node, nip sparing, alloderm tissue expander, 4 drains, recommending 410 allergan "gummy bears" although down the the line. Why did you get celullitis , seroma and then burst tissue expander? Any tips to help prevent or the journey goes where it goes? Thank you for the pictures , helps to understand what lies ahead including tissue expanders.

I had my new silicone-gel- Mentor Siltex textured 440cc’s places OVER the muscles on each side in June 2016. They took my hideous ones out from under & places the beautiful ones on. I literally felt & looked like a brand new woman!! I still do. I was planning on having one fixed 6-8 months later, but I’m so happy with my life-like breasts that I don’t even want to tamper with them. I finally found my “forever boobs” lol. Pre-pectoral implants was exactly what I needed, since my old implants and the 4 times prior surgeries- my implants would literally squish sideways under my armpits and flatten if I slightly moved or used my arms at all. How embarrassing!
These are beautiful, well deserved, and 2 years later, they’re going to be still looking brand new. Do they have flaws? Yes...I have a strange serum leaking out of one- was diagnosed with this strange little pinhole (I’ll take a picture of it & show you all- I’ve never heard of anyone else having this, nor have the Drs) and sticky thin clear yellow fluid leaks out when pressed- the tiny hole is on my skin near my nipple...but I had a mastectomy and only have nipples and implants in there. Diagnosed with a seroma inside, awaiting results of the large bacterial tests that take several days to come back, just a precaution since I’ve been sick. But, other than that, a leaky boob, lol, I’m VERY happy. ???? I need to get antibiotics or some type of cure so I can keep these beauties....NO MORE SURGERY until the 10 Year Point. I’m living homeopathic and natural these days, since my hysterectomy. Life is filled with too much beauty and love to be stuck in bed in pain. It’s time to shine like a teenager again. ????
I feel so blessed that my surgeon- Dr Pranay Parikh was INCREDIBLE and a mastermind of a man to come up with such an incredible idea to help me get the look I’ve always desired. He helped me feel like a confident woman again. I look in the mirror proudly at myself. He did AMAZING scar revision, made my hideous, unsightly scars into thin, smaller scars! He’s truly unbelievable at how OCD he is and that which causes pure PERFECTION! I will always be grateful for the excellence he gave.
Coming from the emergency room this evening reminded me of my old reviews. My old hideous implants as my journey had just begun- now? I’m here again with wonderful news. 2 years later flourishing. It’s a beautiful update. ?? I couldn’t be more thankful to my amazing surgeon & nurse.
SHOUTOUT TO DR PARIKH. ???? Keep up the great work on mastectomy patients!! You are amazing.
