Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomy - Spokane, WA

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in late summer of 2015 at the age of 45. I was fortunate enough to have one of the top oncologists in Spokane perform a mastectomy on me. She recommended Dr. Buchanan for breast reconstruction. At my initial appointment with Dr. Buchanan, I hadn't yet had the mastectomy and didn't know if the cancer had spread. I was, at best, a complete anxiety-ridden mess when I first met with Dr. Buchanan. He made sure that I understood all of my options for breast reconstruction, and was so patient, compassionate, kind, and optimistic (traits you can't learn in medical school). I was also impressed by his professionalism and knowledge, and I left his office feeling content for the first time since I had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and excited to have breast reconstruction done!

In October 2015 Dr. Buchanan put expanders in me to slowly stretch my skin to allow for the implants. I saw him every week for saline injections until I was at the size I wanted to be. I always had tons of questions for him, and he answered them clearly and always checked to make sure I understood what he was saying.

In April 2016 Dr. Buchanan put the final implants in, and did fat grafting to "fine tune" everything. I am thrilled with the results! Dr. Buchanan is extremely talented, and is passionate about what he does. Spokane is so fortunate to have a plastic surgeon of his caliber. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Buchanan!
