Female Pattern Hair Loss and Telogen Effluvium

Hello,

I am a 37 year old women. I am having excessive hair fall for over a year. Finally after a follow-up for 10 months I got an appointment with a dermatologist.

She met me for 10 mins and said you have Female pattern hair loss and telogen Effluvium. She asked me to take Viviscal, Spironolactone and Rogaine foam. I started researching about it as she didn't explain a thing.

I am not comfortable applying Rogaine. Has anyone tried only Spironolactone and LLLT and seen success. Has only LLLT worked in any such case?

Please guide.

I had TE and which resulted in some mild AGA at 39. I had great results with Spironolactone 200 mg, Ortho-tri-cyclen and Rogaine 5% I actually grew all my hair back. I was only shedding for 9 months so I caught it early. They all work differently on the hair cycle so usually you need a good combo of meds to get real results...Alone none of them worked for me. I recently hit menopause and the shedding picked up because I had to discontinued my BC pill. I added LLLT and 2.5 mg finasteride. Stayed on my Spironolactone and Rogaine 5% seems to be working. But like I said it's always the combo of meds that worked for me...I never got results doing one med. You need to block the DHT that causes AGA first (androgen or DHT blockers Spironolactone or Finasteride) and then add a growth stimulants like low androgen index BC pills, Minoxidil or LLLT.
