POSTED UNDER Spironolactone For Acne REVIEWS

Day 1

ORIGINAL POST

Day 1

Sarah in CA
My dermatologist has prescribed me 50mg of spironolactone once daily along with minocycline for my acne. He also prescribed a tretinoin, Clindamycin, and benzoyl peroxide once daily. I didn’t give any blood work nor did they take my vitals at my first office visit. I started off by taking the minocycline at 7:30 am on an empty stomach as directed and then took the spironolactone at 10:30am with my breakfast. It made me feel a tad lightheaded today and just kind of weird feeling. I’m hoping that feeling subsides in a few days. I finished my day with my topical prescriptions before going to bed. I will be attaching pictures of day 1. I’m going to try to post my journey and pictures at least once a month.

Make sure to wait it out! It took 3 months before my skin finally started clearing up. I'm 4 1/2 months on Spiro. 50mg daily and my skin is finally clear with a minimal zit here and there!

Hi @kcroyals05 I should have posted an update. So unfortunately, I had to stop taking both medications. I was getting really bad headaches and feeling not myself. Since I started both at the same time I had to stop taking both. I gave it a week rest and my dermatologist said if I was comfortable enough I should try the spironolactone on its own first. So I did that, and I didn’t experience any headaches. However after two weeks of taking, I started getting really bad anxiety, I felt like a completely different person feeling like an emotional Crazy person, feeling very dizzy and experienced the worst heartburn in my life, I have only had it 3 times in my life. I had an emotional episode where I was crying for no reason. I can’t explain but i was just not feeling my normal self. I also had extreme fatigue. I decided to stop taking it. I decided to just try the topicals and start with some vitamin d and a probiotic. I don’t know which one is doing it but my face has been getting better. I also have been trying to cut back in sugar, gluten and dairy. I wish I could have kept on taking it because everyone else seems to have had great success. Did you feel any of these side effects?
