This is mainly the office and policy regarding consults. I was seeking consultation for fat transfers to the face to help remedy muscle loss depletion due to a car accident, as well as asymmetry in my calves. He first said that he wouldn't do a transfer to calf, that I didn't have enough fat to complete such a procedure. As far as my face, he said he wouldn't perform a fat transfer due to my bone structure. He suggested he could do a small fat transfer above my eye or blepharoplasty, as well as putting my own fat in my calf, against what he initially said. They charge 225.00 for a consultation that can be applied to procedure. I explained to Veronica, that what I initially came in for was declined by the Dr.. Veronica remarked that because he suggested alternate procedures that I could apply the money toward that. Be aware that quotes given are only good for 3 months at which time they are reviewed for price increase, and that applying the consult fee is only for medical procedures is good for 6 mos. when I spoke to Veronica she was not willing to either be flexible on the time or refund any of the fee, she giggled in a strange way after everything she said, and said only reputable Drs. charge such a high fee for a consult. I explained to her that i couldn't afford so much money when he was unwilling to perform the procedure I came in for. Although there are no written policies regarding the fee, what it can be used for and how long, she said...he ...he ....it doesn't matter, it's the going rate and doesn't need to be written. You don't have to sign that you agree to pay, she said you don't sign anything prior to going to see a cardiologist. Every Dr. I've gone to has you sign a financial responsibility form, prior to appointment. At the end of the day, this office is more concerned with charging money, reviewing and increasing pricing every 3mos. And not concerned with patient experience. I do work and am a responsible individual, but I believe given the circumstances an adjustment could've been made. Veronica was extremely argumentative and shot down any communication in any possible adjustments either in time or money. Lastly, I waited 45 minutes after my scheduled time to which she said simply, you could've left if you didn't prefer waiting. I also was late for a class at 6:30, to which she said oh well. People do not seem to matter to her, I had to change while driving, and was late for class. He maybe surgically skilled Dr. Spiro, but the office is cold and unclear about the fee time schedule. If it had been more clear upfront, I would've managed my expectations with the Dr. differently, given its a loss of money for me. in fact, the Dr. made reference that I had seen a couple Drs. For consult, not because I'm wasting people's time, but because I'm looking for reconstructive, more emotionally based surgery not a simple procedure. The fact the the office would keep a fee after not wanting to perform procedure is unethical in my opinion and greedy. Please keep this in mind and visit my profile for a procedure I had that was an incredible experience with a reputable highly skilled Dr. He is one of the ones I also consulted with and he doesn't charge a fee if you mention you saw him on Real Self. If you need to charge such a high fee, maybe your work doesn't speak for itself. Also, the reason I had a few consults is because the procedure was unrelated to procedure I was consulting for and not performed by Dr. Spiro. I'm disappointed with this experience.
