I have an 1yr old, a 28mth old & a 14 mth old. All quite big babies & the last 2 very close together. I always said I would need to help my body get back to normal after my last 2 babies. So, I have my op booked for 10th Sept 2015- 4 days away!
I have a gap in my tummy muscles & hope that I can return to be fully active within a few months- I like to keep fit & if after the op I was to start feeling like I am letting myself go or can't do the exercises/activities I want to do in the future will be counterproductive. I had a choice between uplift with implants or just implants- I chose just implants.
My worries are healing well, scarring, any long term restrictions on activity & recovery with 2 babies

I am very very nervous. Having second thoughts. I have eczema and worry if this will delay or complicate healing. I worry that the tummy muscle repair will stop me from being active (fitness, running/dancing/playing/rough and tumble with my children). If there will be any restrictions. I am a police officer and worry about (the sometimes physically challenging) situations we are faced with. I have been reassured that there are no future complications with Abdominoplasty?
I am nearly 40 and should just accept that I have 3 children and my body is the way it is because of age and having children...
Will my body feel like my own any time after?
Are all these normal thoughts?
I have been told I will have to wear a tight garment 24/7 for 2 weeks afterwards (no showering). And then I will have to wear it for 6 weeks afterwards for some parts of the day. I have bought cheap sports bras for recovery (told I didn't need expensive ones for recovery).
I am going to get some Arnica (told not use it until after the 2wks initial hearing/recovery phase) for the bruising etc and Senna to soften my stools.
Got butterflies in my tummy!

Hey, I'm getting my mommy makeover tomorrow too! Nerves suddenly hit me yesterday. The whole procedure is consuming every thought, every minute of the day. I just hope it's worth it! What time is your surgery planned for? I'm on the afternoon list, admission at 11 tomorrow. Good luck! X

Hi, good lock to you too!
I am being admitted at half 7... Not sure whether I'm morning or afternoon. Like you, it is on my mind. I was so adamant and focussed a few weeks ago- now I'm nervous and worrying! X

I've been thinking about you! I'm sat waiting to be taken to theatre, should be going down in 10 minutes but not yet seen my surgeon or anaesthetist so I think I may be late

My surgery is next week. I have 2 very active children (ages 2 and 5) and love to be active with them. How is recovery with your children? I am so scared that I am missing out on part of their life or that I am preventing them from having fun for a few weeks. Thanks

Hi, my surgery is tomorrow- so I think we will be going through the same emotions etc at the same time (after initial recovery)... Not sure how it's going to be and like you I feel like I will be missing out and loading extra work/burden on my other half and family because I don't think we can physically do much- I really don't want to prolong my recovery or jeopardise anything by trying to do too much too soon.
I will let you know how the first few days go. X

Thank u, appreciate it.
You will be very swollen for awhile. I would say the swelling was & continues 2 be the worst part for me. Make sure u up your protien intake. Shakes & quest bars helped me. Do as much as you can & the minute you feel any pain STOP! Your going 2 look great & you will be very pleased with your results. Can't wait 2 see your pics. Wishing u a healthy recovery! :-)

Thank you very much. I will get some of the protein shakes that you can buy. Still not been for a wee yet since before surgery?! X

I was told I had to pee within 8 hrs after being released. Have you gone yet?

I have been but it was just a trickle. Doesn't feel like I can control it at the moment. Lost the sensation of needing to go and if I am empty or not. Hope that's normal!

Hi there, and welcome! Thanks for sharing your story with us. I hope you'll get lots of support from the community. I'd like to share this forum post with you, and hope you'll find it useful. Good luck, and please don't forget to update us :)
10 tips for before and after your Mommy Makeover
The 3 must have recovery items i recommend are: 1) a Walker, i purchased mine at a thrift store 4 $14.00. I ABSOLUTELY needed it the first 72hrs. 2) shower stool
3) removeable hand held shower nozzle. I ordered both the stool & shower head through amazon for $45.00 which included shipping fees. Oh & start your stool softeners 2 days prior 2 your sx.
The surgery itself & the antibiotics & pain pills constipate you BAD! Took my stool softeners religiously & it wasnt until day 4 po that i had my 1st bm.
Also, before pics are a must. It will help you gauge your progress while your healing. You will be SO swollen for weeks & you'll need those pics 2 look bk on & say, Yes it was worth it!
Best of luck!! :-)
I will keep you updated. All advice and supported is appreciated. I have never had any type of operation before so this is a big thing for me x
