I think I underestimated the recovery. Surgery was the easy part. Getting very impatient and feeling very lazy. Still don't feel ready to do any exercise (I know some RS' we're out running by now). I still get very bloated -I am opening my bowels etc (sorry TMI).
I am still wearing my CG 24/7.
My back aches- think it is because the core muscles have been tightened and need to settle??
I'm still not lifting more than 10lbs which means I am still not able to lift my 2yr old and 1yr old. Finding that really difficult. It's very tough on my OH because they're not great sleepers so I can see he is shattered from being up and down like a yo-yo (and working full time). I miss being able to lift them so looking forward to the 6 wk mark when I can start helping out more.
I have an infection in my tummy incision -just above my pubic area. Seems to be a common place for wound infections. I am on 500mg flucloxacillin 4x per day for 7 days. I am halfway through the course. I think I have been googling too much because I am worried necrosis is going to set in!!! Not seen my surgeon or spoken to him about it. I saw my GP and she has advised any change for the worse or no change at all I will need to return and contact my surgeon. Can't get it wet and I'm dressing it every day. Back to no showers/baths for a few days! Quite frustrating when I am quite a healthy person and have done everything i was told to by my surgeon.
My boobs are healing well and I am still hoping have some settling to do because they are quite big!
Like others say on here- I have positive days and days where I lose sight of the end goal and days where I worry...

Healing ok...

Close up of scars... Nearly 3wks post op.
Just a slight red and itchy area in the middle of my tummy scar. I suffer with eczema and I am wondering if it has got a bit of that in it? Keeping an eye on that area.
Still bloated and swollen in my tummy area. And still have fluid in the area which was undermined.
My breasts seem to have drop a bit and although I am still getting used to having them, they are fine :)
Still taking it easy and just pottering around the house until this bloated and swollen tummy subsides.
Hoping to start turning a corner soon.
Not great photos but shows the healing.

Scars are healing great! Your nipples have healed really well, that was one thing that freaked me out about a lift was having them repositioned but yours look fab (can't believe I'm analysing your nips lol sorry)
When is your next check up? How are your boobs feeling? For the last week mine have been hypersensitive, even my bras are irritating me. Everywhere is sore to touch, the shower spray even causes twinges. I've looked on here and it's common apparently and due to the nerves stretching. X

Hi Debbie, hope you're ok. I don't mind you checking my nipples out ;) i am quite pleased about how they are healing etc. I was apprehensive about having the uplift for the same reasons as you. But I am pleased I did.
I wouldn't say mine were hypersensitive. They are itchy all over which I presume is the skin stretching and maybe nerves reconnecting etc???
I have feeling in my nipples- I was concerned I would lose that.
I get occasional pulling sensations which go as quick as they arrive in my boobs. But that's it.
My next check up is 30th Dec!!! But the surgeon said I could call him if I needed to before then. It's hard to know whether to worry or not sometimes?! My OH is at the end of his patience with me some days because I am worrying about bloating, swelling, itching or redness....
When do you see your surgeon again. How are you feeling? I am off work until 26th Oct -pleased about that. I thought I would be doing more by now but this swelling and bloating is holding me back. I don't know what to do for the best. Still wearing my CG 24/7. I think I need to. Are you wearing your's?
Xx

That's good that you've git a few more weeks off work. I see my surgeon on the 27th of this month, just before I go on holiday and I will be almost 7 weeks post op. I'm glad I get checked before I fly, just to put my mind at rest. Still in my CG pretty much 24/7, apart from baths or showers but yesterday I went out to lunch with a friend and wore trousers that didn't sit well with the CG so I wore some tight Spanx pants. So much comfier but I want to do as I'm told and wear CG if possible. I don't think the odd half day will hurt though. I changed my tape on my scars this morning and was slightly disappointed, not a huge amount of difference since last week, and still got a little patch in the centre of my incision that's a bit scabby and tender. Hoping it's nothing! Didn't expect this healing lark to be such a worrying process! X

Yes ,that will be very reassuring seeing him before you travel.
I have redness, soreness and itching in the centre of my tummy scar. Keeping a close eye on it.
My surgeon told me I could swap to Spanx now. So, I went to debenhams to try some on because the sizing is so difficult to work out on the Internet. Their selection was very limited at my local store. I got some on (eventually- very tight pulling up over hips and bum) but they didn't feel very supportive. The store didn't have super higher power ones or whatever they are called. I tried others on but found them so difficult to pull over my bum and hips that I was concerned I would pull on my scar and cause so damage to inside healing. They were ok once I'd got them over that area but I think I will give it another couple of weeks of healing time.
I'm the same- worrying about healing. I daren't look sometimes in case something has got infected or popped open! Silly I know x

you're looking excellent, very good scars! That itchy centre of the tt may be a stitch trying to work it's way out ....I had one on my breast t junction. and I ended up having to having antibiotics as it pus-ed up a bit just before it spat out. It was fine and the scar was not compromised much but just thought i would mention in case that's whats happening with you.

Hi, thank you...
I will keep a close eye on the red area. Any little changes (for the worse) I will get some antibiotics. Thank you for telling me about that.

How are you feeling hun, has your swelling resolved any

Hi, my tummy is still quite rounded and tight. Gets bigger as the day goes on. I saw my GP yesterday to get a sick note for work and she had a look and said I was very bloated - she said she thought it was wind too. But wasn't knowledgeable about the surgery. I still have fluid in the area that was undermined. It will be 3wks tomorrow since my op. Still taking it easy and just pottering around the house.
I have read that people turn a corner at 3-4weeks?
Scars seem to be healing nicely though. I have a few close ups which I will put on. I just have a red and itchy area in the middle of my tummy scar. GP said to keep an eye on that area.
How are you doing?
You are looking great! X

Hope you're doing ok x
Let your surgeon know what is going on too, he should be supporting you through this.
[RS bleep]
I will let my surgeon know. I haven't yet but you're right I should keep him up to date.
Thank you for your advice and support xx
I have finished my antibiotics and it's dry/scabby now in that area. Hoping it stays that way and heals up now.
I worry my boobs are a bit big for my frame. Think it takes a while to get used to the fullness? I look down when my top is off... And just think 'Wow! They're massive'
Still religiously wearing my CG. Bought a few new firm support sport bras from M&S (better/comfier than my cheap Asda ones I bought for post surgery).
I still get bloated everyday and swelling in my lower tummy. And still numb from sternum down.
Quick question: when I wake in the morning or during the night (still sleeping on my back on a few pillows) my tummy goes into a spasm/stretch- it really tenses up. Do you ever get that? I worry it is putting stress on the internal repair... But I can't stop it happening. X
My surgeon told me to swap to Spanx at my 2 week check. I haven't... Yet!
It is a weird feeling isn't it!? I try my best to stop it happening but I can't! Not painful- my whole tummy just goes really really tense.
Your BA looks very nice. Glad that one healing fast.
Keep us posted.
You have done so well losing weight and having this op- you will feel better and better each week. My cosmetic nurse kept reminding me that it is major surgery in the cosmetic world so we need to look after ourselves during recovery.
I was reading a few other reviews and envious of their return to exercise so soon after their op. But at 4 weeks I just didn't feel ready (plus the complication of the infection). My tummy gets bloated and tight as the day goes on so that's a major put off in itself!
Yesterday I did a steady 5 miles on my bike. That is the first time I have done anything (I was 6wks post yesterday). I felt good afterwards but because it was the first time- worried I might have damaged something! I'm just a worrier! Not ready to run or do cross fit yet. I though the bike would put less stress on my core that anything else. I'm not doing any core until I have seen my surgeon on 30th Dec. You could try a bike or a steady walk and increase your distance/pace gradually. You will know when you're ready to give it a try - I felt I'd gone beyond sitting to recover- I had got myself into that vicious circle of the less you do, the less you want to do! I'm still taking it easy though.
My infection has dried up- still a bit scabby so keeping a close eye on it each day.
My surgeon did say I would have a vertical scar- my reason was that the original hole for my belly button would not be removed with the excess skin (if that makes sense).
I have had 6wks off work (go back in Monday... Back to reality).
5mile on your bike for the first time out is great!! Good on you! I Normally like to run (not great) and Circuit (I think it's the same or very similar to Cross fit?). I go back to work next Thursday which will be five and a half weeks. Its desk based work so I think it will be a bit of a culture shock to be sitting straight for a few hours and then having to come home and cook dinner the family and get kids organised etc. I think the first two days back will be just a walk at lunchtime. See how I fair with that. Yep, Im Hearin' the whole back to reality thing......
