Eyes So Sad and Droopy! - Manchester, GB
ORIGINAL POST
I felt my eyes were so droopy and overhanging,...
WORTH IT$7,000
I felt my eyes were so droopy and overhanging, making me look permanently sad, that something must be done. I researched the web, reading about other peoples stories and surgeries re blepharoplasty, which led me to decide it was for me too. I had the surgery on both upper and lower lids, and stayed in hospital overnight for rest. I had tape over the scaring, and could see through a little gap, I had a chilled mask, to help with swelling. Bruising on the eye area, extended down to my jaw line after a few days, which suprised me. The tape was removed after a week, except for a small bit at the outside corner of each eye, staying in pace for a short while longer. Time is a great healer, the bruising and swelling reducing each week, the result could be seen straight, improving continually. Camouflage make up and sunglasses to the rescue!

What a difference! I had a forehead list two years ago...for similar reasons...found recovery to be fairly easy and love the changes it made. People constantly try to figure out what is different but can't put their finger on it which makes me smile! You look younger and so refreshed! Good for you!

I was given pain killers to start, and a couple of hours later, was asked if I wanted any more, well, I didn't really, as I felt fine, to my surprise. The cut above the eye, and just under my eyelashes on the lower lid, were covered with surgical tape. It felt quite tight, but not sore. I could see alright, through a tiny slit, and I was given a cold eye mask, changed regularly, to help lessen swelling and bruising. I was propped up in bed, almost sitting, and stayed in hospital overnight in this position, and told not to move, or as little as possible, as this prevents bleeding and really aids recovery. Had I gone home the same day, I know that I would have been up and about doing things!! Then I looked in a mirror! Bruising started to come around the eyes and nose, which was to be expected, and there was a fair amount of swelling too, I looked to others worse than I felt myself! I went home in the morning, wearing dark glasses, not just to hide the odd look, but to keep the sun off as the eye area was so delicate. I was told to wear the glasses for a while, to aid the scar healing. I had to again, do nothing, (really emphasised by my surgeon) for a few days, as this helps to keep blood pressure down and lessens any stress on the healing process. The majority of the tape was removed after a week, leaving just small corner pieces in place for a few extra days.
The bruising by then, had gone right down my face to my jaw line! I went some peculiar shades of purple to yellow, but with the help of some concealing make up, (not on the eye area) I did get out and about after about a fortnight. I used a light moisturiser over the scars to keep them soft, massaging gently each night. I was quite conscious about what I looked like for about 4-5 weeks, thinking everyone was looking at me, but realistically, they weren't. It all improved virtually daily, and now, I am 8 months down the line, and haven't looked back.
