Finally Getting a Flatter Tummy, Long Time Coming - Spire Hospital, England

6 weeks countdown

6 weeks to go, somehow it hasn't really sunk in. I've found the weeks going quite fast like I know I'm finally having it done but don't quite realise how soon it is.
I have my pre op assessment on 23rd June, 4 weeks time, I think it really will
sink in then. I started a whole long list of
questions for my ps based on others
experiences on here, things I need to
clarify etc. Also a list of things I need to
get me through and handy tips. Forget trying to hire a recliner chair, it's a virtually impossible task. I've managed to bag a bargain in my local paper so my other half picked that up for me last
week , we actually think we may keep hold of it afterwards so all good. He is also getting me a grabber thing from work as I've seen these can be useful. The weird thing is I have an incentive to lose a few pounds and somehow can't lose them or maybe not really trying. Maybe I think the surgeon will get rid of the extra few pounds, silly really as I know I should do it now. I'm only talking about half a stone but anyone else struggle with this?. I'm going to try and update regular now as I'm on countdown. I'm adding a couple of terrible tummy pics but hopefully not formuch longer x

Hi everyone, I'm 8 half weeks pre op and counting....
Hi everyone, I'm 8 half weeks pre op and counting. After 3 large babies (9lb, 9lb14oz, 10lb 10oz) my poor tummy has never been the same. My youngest is 16 this year so I figured I've waited long enough. I am finally in a position both financially and emotionally to do something about the one thing that bothers me 24hrs a day. I know that may seem silly but for all u mummas our there wishing for a flat tum you will know where I'm coming from. What I wear, what I do, how I sit, stand, it all revolves around the tummy and how I'm feeling that day.......so here I am ,I've had an initial assessment and been confirmed as an ideal candidate with an expected gd result. I probably need to lose around 7 to 8 pounds ideally before but not completely necessary, my surgeon advised to do this if I felt I needed to for best result, apparently he can pull me in that little bit tighter (wow). My ps also confirmed a 2 inch gap in my muscles, to finally have it confirmed is a weird feeling. I always knew any exercise I was doing just wasn't making any difference and now I know why. I'm currently browsing this wonderful site and reading everyone's experiences, I truly believe the more open I am to expected recovery the better so am currently gathering as much info as possible. Any hints, tips, advice would be greatly appreciated. Some amazing stories on here x

Aww good luck! I'm day 7 post op today, in N.I. I'm delighted I've had it done, I hadn't lost all my baby weight (youngest is 10months) but still with a stone to lose I'll be happier than I was before. I just couldn't wait any longer.
My recovery has been good, still not standing straight but apart from that, I'm good! My best advice is don't listen to the horror stories, everyone's pain threshold etc is different, I'd drains in until day 3, and only taking paracetamol until day 5! And get written up for Lactulose! Lol! Good luck!
Thank u Bunting, it feels comforting reading everyone's experiences. I know people have gd and bad stories to tell but everything is a risk and I feel the more info I can gather the better prepared I will be. I am a little worried about bm lol, I'm not regular at the best of times so lactulose it is ;-), glad u are recovering well, I truely cannot wait to rid myself of my spare tyre lol. Happy recovery ,keep me posted with any tips x
Lol! Lactulose is a must! I was so sore day 2 but I knew it was just bowels! Lol! Once I went I was super again!
Another thing, now that I'm heading to bed, I was told I had to stay flexed until my review (tomorrow), so bed at home was/ is difficult. I slept in a recliner the first night home, but lots and lots of pillows in bed are a must. Those v shaped maternity pillows, or a body pillow folded into a v would be worth getting, so you can sleep quite upright, with at least one pillow under your knees.
Ooh and cough out your drains! Seriously, coughing while they're being removed rather than deep breathing works really well!
Thank u for sharing, I was looking at wedge pillows for under my knees but don't really want to spend too
much money on things I don't use again, il definitely be investing in a v
shape pillow and adding that to my
list, I'm trying to get a good list of
things I need :-) ,think I will be
propped on a sofa for a few days
with pillows all round as I don't have a recliner...bit apprehensive about
drains etc but I know it's all part of it
and I'm sure the finished result has
got to be better than what I have
now, I will be sure to remember the coughing technique :-) x
Good luck!! :))
