Once diagnosed with breast cancer I was instructed to go seek the advise of a plastic surgeon (because of previous implants) before I made the decision of lumpectomy or mastectomy. Tried to get appt with Dr Orseck but he was out of town. So I met with another dr. This dr suggested mastectomy and I chose for a double. After explanders and then the newest teardrop implants, my new breast were created. I cried for days. I ooked flat with no clevage and then a bump at the bottom. My Oncologist suggested I get a second opinion and suggested Dr Orseck. Since July of last year I had my implants replaced and now have nipples and just finished up with the tattoo coloring. I finally feel whole again. I can look at myself in the mirror when getting out of the shower. What a great end to a horrible story...... Dr Orseck and his whole staff are awesome. I would highly reccommend them for any procedure you might want or need.

Thank you for sharing such a personal story on RealSelf. I am happy to hear you are feeling like a complete woman again! Just curious, did you end up getting a different type and size implant than the first go around? So glad it's finally working out for you!

Yes Dr Orseck suggest a round implant to give me total fullness. It made a world of difference. I will never look totally normal but at least I am close.

Oh I'm glad the round implant made a difference. How long ago did you get the nipple tattoo coloring? Another RealSelf member, Cindy588, recently had hers done and they faded a bit after a month. Perhaps your method or color worked better?

My tattooing faded as well. I was told I would have to get it touched up due to the color does not do well on scars. I have chose not to..My tattooing was very painful and I got infection. So no way I want to go through that again. The way I look at it is I am 48 years old and been married for over 13 years. I don't plan on showing my nipples to anyone. I am just happy I can wear tank shirts and have a nice cleavage. Plus I am alive and have beat cancer. I think I have done alright!

My relative feels the same way about her reconstructed breast. She said to heck with the tattoo and is so happy about conquering the cancer. I think Cindy588 felt the same way too. Good for you and congratulations!!  (I'm turning 48 soon too and married for 17 years...who cares, right?!)  :)
