Dr. Bogdan was great. I had a worst experience...
Dr. Bogdan was great. I had a worst experience getting my wisdom teeth pulled - truly. I am 5'6 and weighed around 130lbs at my consultation/surgery. I am pretty slim...not much waist definition, inverted triangle with slightly broader shoulders than hips - narrow hips, skinny legs. I ran a lot before surgery - one half marathon after the other, so I wasn't overweight. Nonetheless, I have some stubborn fat dimples on my flanks, and some stubborn fat on my lower abs.
Consultation: Dr. Bogdan shot me pretty straight and even discouraged me from having lipo done on my abs since I haven't had children yet. Bottom line, lipo isn't meant to be a weight loss procedure and he assesses this in the consultation. He was thorough in detailing the procedure process and what I could expect afterwards, including results. He took all the time I needed answering my questions, etc.
Surgery: Easy breezy. I felt nothing. I was getting prepped at Harris and boom, I was waking up to be discharged. Such a smooth process. I will say that I was happy like crazy to see Dr. Bogdan right before sedation for some reason - nerves maybe? He made his markings and we even managed to laugh...then I was out.
Post Surgery: virtually painless. Seriously, Dr. Bogdan is a pro. I was nervous initially because I, of course, saw no results...but you really are swollen. It might not seem like it, but you are...be patient. I kept the garment on, as instructed. I did take a day or two off work which I'm glad that I did. I might have rushed it a bit - signing up for Title Boxing & almost dying, and then meeting up with my running buddy to "just make sure" I could at least do a mile in 10 min. I probably could have waited another 2 weeks before trying to be the Rock; take your time and take it easy.
3 months post surgery: I weighed in at 115lbs. Small...this was *not* due to the lipo and Dr. Bogdan confirmed that he didn't remove 15 lbs of fat from my back. But I'd dropped 15 lbs and umm...I looked pretty darn good in my book. The back dimples were pretty much nonexistent. My waistline was naturally more *cinched* and I was taking compliments like whoa. I should have taken my post-op pics at this point instead of putting them off and then never taking any.
17 months post surgery: I've stayed between 120-130lbs over the past year. This is naturally where I range long term, it seems. Despite some weight gain since 3 months post op, my back still looks great (now the weight either settles on my abs or my boobs). My left back "dimple" never really went completely away and it is more pronounced with additional weight. Even though I wish Dr. Bogdan had sucked out even more tissue on that side, I'm realistic about it...we had a conversation about my mild scoliosis and the curving of my spine which would likely continue to contribute to that back dimple. Aside from this dimple and a small...ever so small...lump of missed fat? on my right side (and I do mean small and probably unnoticeable to anyone but me), I'm super happy. My overall body shapes looks way better and the scars are small. I would do the procedure again; and, I have every intention of scheduling with Dr. Bogdan once more after I have children (if I'm blessed with any). He's great. Hopefully he remains at an affordable price point so I can see him again.
Word of advice? Be realistic...you may not get this perfect result you have in your head. Don't use lipo as a weight loss method...you'll probably gain the weight back...even for someone like myself who didn't really have weight to lose, I ended up back around the same weight a year later...be realistic about it. Happy Surgery and call Dr. Bogdan!
