When I initially got my ears pierced as a child,...

When I initially got my ears pierced as a child, the left one was pierced way lower than the right one, but it went unnoticed and both my parents and I didn't think much of it. In my teen years I began wearing heavy set earrings which caused the hole to become more pronounced. Eventually, the lobe ripped in half and I was no longer able to wear any earring in my left ear. I recently got engaged and my parents gifted me a pair of diamond earrings, and told me that they want to pay to have my earlobe repaired (5 years after it ripped). I went in for a consultation and about a week later had the actual procedure. At first he injected my ear with a numbing agent to where my entire ear was numb and a part of my neck and a bit of the left side of my face were numb. The actual procedure took about 25-30 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. I could hear some of what was happening, but no pain at all. I got about 5 or 6, very neat sutures and a surgical band-aid, which he said should fall off at the end of the day or the day after. My plastic surgeon prescribed me some Norco, and told me that the numbing would start to fade after about 5-6 hours and then I should start taking the Norco as needed for any discomfort or pain. He also told me to get some OTC Bacitracin or Neosporin and apply it daily. I literally walked out of his office and went to work an hour after the procedure. I didn't feel any pain until about 7 hours after and it was very mild, almost like a burning throbbing feeling. I was very careful not to sleep on it for about 5-6 days. Overall, the pain was very bearable, and I only ended up taking about 6 of the Norco's he gave me. The band-aid didn't fall of until the 6th day after the procedure, and I made sure to call on the 3rd and let him know that it hadn't and he assured me that it was okay and that the longer it stays on, the better. A week and a half later I went in to get the sutures removed, and he said everything looked great. Getting the sutures removed was very comfortable, just a mild burning sensation. He put a band-aid on told me that it should fall of by the end of the day and if not, I should take it off the day after. He told me that I should apply Neosporin or Bacitracin to it daily for 2 weeks and not to put any Alcohol (EtOH) or Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) for 2 weeks. Over the two weeks, it would scab up, and I wold have to apply Scarguard to it daily for 2 months to help reduce the appearance of the scar. He said that I would be able to re-pierce it after 3 months after the initial procedure. So far, it has been about weeks since the initial procedure and it looks great. It doesn't hurt, it just looks pink. I am beyond excited to rep-pierce my ear and wear the beautiful diamond earrings my parents gifted me! I am very happy I made the choice to have my earlobe repaired! :)
