I'm so happy I got Lasik and would recommend it to anybody. I was scared at first because I read a lot of horror stories online but after watching real reviews etc. I decided to go for it.

I went in for a consultation where I got to speak with the Lasik coordinator who reviewed my charts and determined that I was a good candidate. She talked to me a little about what I wanted to achieve, answered my questions and made me feel a lot better about the procedure. She was quick about scheduling me for surgery, so I was booked for my pre-op exam and surgery a week later.

At the pre-op exam they basically ran a bunch of tests to further ensure I was a good candidate for Lasik. They also took a digital map of my eye for the custom Lasik. They also told me about what to expect in surgery, answered more questions, and let me meet my doctor. This was on a Tuesday and the surgery was booked for that Thursday.

THE PROCEDURE
I was a little nervous on that day. I was worried about crazy things like the laser malfunctioning lol but luckily everything went great. I waited about 10 min after arriving to fill out paper work and was taken back to the prep room where they gave me a rundown of surgery again, gave instructions for at home, etc.

Finally when I went back into the surgery room the first thing I noticed was that it was really cold! They give you a toy to squeeze and ask you to lay down while the laser is positioned above you. The nurses are there the whole time and you can hear the staff giving feed back to each other so you know things are going good. The procedure was uncomfortable but I tried to stay as still as possible.

The most uncomfortable part is the clamps they put to hold your eye lids open. They put them on so tight that you can feel the pressure throughout your sinuses. The only other thing that bothered me was the microkeratome? which is used to cut the flap. I was under the impression that it would be quiet but when it started cutting it made a weird hissing/electric saw noise that made me jump.
After all that they ask you to look into the laser and stare at a light, you hear a clicking sound and smell a faint smell of burning eyeball (not as bad as it sounds) and they move on to the next eye. The whole thing lasts less than 15 min so it is worth it to feel uncomfortable.

AFTERTHOUGHTS
Right afterwards things will look a little cloudy but its amazing to see in HD vision. They give you medication to make you sleep but I had to take extra because I woke up with my eyes burning. That was the only painful after effect that I had. In the weeks after surgery my eyes were a little dry but nothing life altering like some of the websites online say. It basically just felt like I left my contacts in for too long. I just followed the care sheet and took my eye drops as scheduled. Now here I am four months out AND HAVE 20/15 VISION which is a bit better than 20/20. Your vision will fluctuate in the months after and can take up to 6 months to stabilize completely. My eyes feel a TINY BIT dry now and then but they are so much better and HD vision is completely worth it!!

A lot of ppl wonder about halos and night vision. I do see halos and ghosting but it is not debilitating and nothing much different than what I saw with my glasses. I can now drive at night without getting headaches. The only thing I don't like is that I will see ghosting from time to time when watching TV. Like when its a black screen and there are white letters they will have a glow around them. Sometimes signs at night have a glow around them. Traffic lights do also. But it isn't as bad as it sounds and wouldn't deter me from getting surgery.
If you are on the edge of deciding I say do it as long as you are a good candidate.

ALL IN ALL I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND AM SO GLAD I DON'T HAVE TO WEAR GLASSES ANYMORE. ID RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE UNDER THE CARE OF THE RIGHT DOCTOR.
