Hi everyone!
I am a 27 year old female, of mixed descent (Asian and Caucasian) and since my teens I have been bullied for how large my jaw area is. I am sure people who have the same problem, know what I am talking about, getting hair styled to hide the sides of your jaw and picture angles! It’s all about the angle!!
I am getting married in October this year, and although my fiancé does not have a problem with my jaw, I just feel so subconscious. I feel like that is the only thing I would like to change about myself…so I decided to go for the surgery. I want phenomenal wedding pictures, without all the editing to make my face smaller. I did my research and decided South Korea is the best when it comes to those types of surgeries. I have 3 friends who have had the surgery in Korea, and after badgering them with various questions, I have finally decided to take the plunge.
I narrowed it down to 2 choices, mostly because that is where my friends had their surgeries. Both Hospitals are in gangnam area (gangnam style, anyone!?), literally on the opposite sides of the street! Talk about hitting 2 birds with one stone! Ha!
I am kind of nervous, and I had online consultations with both hospitals prior to going there and made my appointments for tomorrow and then decide where to have my surgery. Both Hospitals (ID and Grand) warned me that it is peak surgery season and I have to make a deposit to make a surgery booking but I relented, I will be staying for a month anyway, so I can wait.
Going to give you more info after both my appointments!!
OMG…and it is cold here…I have been living and working in the Middle East for the past couple of years, and I have forgotten how cold winter can get!! Brrrr… I will have to re-think my original plan of staying for a month…

Consultation appointment

Hi everyone!
So...I had my consultation yesterday at both Grand and ID hospital. It was really cold in the morning so I guess I was already in a bit of a mood. I will sum up my experiences at both places.
First, at Grand, the waiting time was average. They were nice and polite, and I waited to see the doctor. So apparently in Korea, there is a consultant who sees you first for the consultation before you see the doctor to evaluate you and make recommendations. There is an English translator as well, who does the translation for the whole consultation. I filled the forms and saw the consultant. She recommended that I also get a cheekbones reduction and thread lift, which I am not interested in, but she was kind of pushy which started to annoy me. I decided not to let my nerves get the better of me and just wait to see the doctor. The doctor was quite good, and answered my concerns about nerve damage, and saggy skin, and surgery complications. I also asked if there was a way to film my surgery so I can be sure of who was doing my surgery, as I was concerned about shadow doctors. That’s when my gut feeling told me something was off, as they brushed off my concerns and said everything would be fine. I decided to leave without making a surgery deposit. Even though they were polite, and the service was good, I really didn’t want to have any doubts about what I was getting myself into.
I crossed on over to the other side of the street and walked to Id Hospital. Both the hospitals are tall 16 floor buildings, and look really huge compared to other plastic surgery clinics I have seen. ID hospital also follows the same method of having a consultant and translator. They told me that since it was a Saturday, the waiting time would be long, and that kind of annoyed me. I hate waiting! I’m so impatient! I was filling my chart, and the translator gave me a coupon for coffee...so I had a latte while waiting for the doctor. The translator was very fluent and she was chatting with me and I sorta relaxed, but the waiting time was still annoying. My consultant also suggested that I have a thread lift and cheekbones surgery!!! What’s up with everyone wanting to shave my cheekbones! I declined and told her my only concern was my jaw. Finally the doctor came after an hour, and I instantly liked him! He entered the room with a smile, answered my concerns about surgery, and they told me they can record a video of a part of the procedure if I was concerned about shadow doctors. The doctor was showing me my X-Ray and suggested I should also reduce my chin along with the jaws, for a more balanced profile. The consultation with the doctor was short, but I was happy to have my concerns addressed. The consultant gave me the surgery price quote and told me the earliest available date for surgery is on 17th Jan!! More waiting!!! I paid the deposit but I asked them to let me know if anyone cancels so I can have an earlier surgery date. I left with butterflies in my stomach! I didn’t think I would have to wait so long, will update you later on when I go to the hospital again.
Take care!!

I don’t really have clear before pictures, since I always hide my jaw in photos, I uploaded one which I was comfortable with. Hopefully that will be enough to compare...the price for the surgery is about 9500 USD (10 million krw)...I will update after pictures!! My surgery is today...so wish me luck!!

How's everything going ?
February 6, 2018
It is going good so far, my jaw does not hurt but it does feel uncomfortable. I cannot open my mouth wide, so I asked the Hospital about it, they told me I need to do some jaw exercises and use a warm pack to relax my jaw muscles. So far, I think everything is going well. I will keep making updates for everyone who is considering surgery. Thanks for stopping by
