I always knew I'd get a facelift some day. Always....

I always knew I'd get a facelift some day. Always. I spent my whole life near beaches, and while salt water revives my soul, the blistering sun and sparse amounts of sunscreen used in my earlier years have really taken a toll on my skin texture and elasticity. So I knew it was just a matter of time.
I began researching three years ago but was not quite ready. But this fall I went ahead and booked my surgery for this week because I could think of no better way to congratulate and honor myself for having gone 12 months without a period--and for having not killed anyone during this hormonally wacky time. My facelift was my menopause present to myself.

You're looking much better already even with the bruising. I cant wait to see how it turns out :) i'm following a few people whove just had facial fat grafting and facelift.
Its a really great life changing surgery it looks like.
I expect to get at least a lower facelift in a decade or so, serious jowls in my family.
Anyway, haply healing x

Jowls run big in my family too, which is another reason I always knew I'd have this surgery done! I absolutely hated the jowls more than anything. Hopefully we'll be following you in a few years on your journey to a new you!

Wow, you already look so much different! Your results are going to be incredible. May I ask how bad the pain is? I get very sick from pain meds and wonder if I could take the pain without taking meds? I wish you the best of luck on your recovery.

I have a very high pain tolerance so for me, I didn't feel much pain. Some areas behind my ear hurt for the first few days but by day 3 I was off the pain meds (Loratabs). I take Tylenol PM at night but mostly just to help me sleep than for pain management.

Thanks for your reply. I'm still in search of which doc to go to so your posts are so helpful. Do you think I'd your had gone out at the two week mark people you know would have noticed your facelift? I wouldn't be getting lips done.

Hi DZB. If you check her pictures above you can see that she was going out someplace at 2 weeks post op. She looks great at that point. Maybe some bruising still but it looks like she had it covered pretty well.

Dzb...is there a reason u are looking for a new PS instead of using your doc in Charlotte? It seemed from your review of him that you were sold on his skills.

You look so awesome! It is like you lost 20 years! I am having my facelift and bletherplasty on Monday. I hope I get good results too.

Best of everything to you on your surgery day! You are going to look fabulous, too! I'm kind of wishing I went ahead and had my eyes done as well, but I'll have to save that for another day. I'll be excited to know see how yours turns out!

I had to be at the surgical center at 6 a.m. to prep for surgery at 7 a.m. I was so nervous I hardly slept the night before. In preparation, I had begun taking arnica tablets and bromelain three days before my surgery. I was eating pretty healthfully and cut out all salt and sugar a week before surgery. I also had filled all my prescriptions days before so that I could take all my meds with me when I went in.
Husband was excited and nervous for me. He's such a trooper though and gave me nothing but 100% support throughout this process. In the month leading to my surgery, I questioned myself many times whether I should be doing this. Whether I should be spending the money. Whether I am too vain and should age more "gracefully." I even cried a little two nights before surgery. But Husband rallied me and said he supported whatever I wanted to do and then reminded me that I work hard and I deserve this as it's something I've always talked about having done. Having Husband's support really meant the world to me.
I took an Ativan and pressed an anti-nausea patch onto my inner ankle the night before. I was worried about the anesthesia because I had a bad reaction many years ago to it. So I was armed with the patch and anti-nausea drugs this time! When I got to the surgery center, the nurse brought me to my room and took my vitals and I signed a bunch of forms. I was giddy with excitement at that point. Then the doc came in and scribbled on my face. We went over the procedure again and then it was show time!
The last thing I remember was being in the SR and moving from my gurney onto the surgery table. It was lights out after that! Then the next memory I have is voices telling me how great everything went. I opened my eyes and Husband was smiling at me. He later said it was very emotional for him to see me all bandaged up, with bruises and swelling. He said it looked like I had been beaten up and it had a very emotional affect on him.
I went home that afternoon and slept for most of the hour drive. Husband had moved a recliner into the bedroom and that is where slept for the rest of the day and night.

Hi, I'm a fellow 53 year old, 4 days post, post lower face and neck lift recipient. I'm enjoying reading your journey very much, as your experience has been, thus far, identical to mine. The tightness I'm experiencing, I've been told by my surgeon, is absolutely normal and it would in fact be the opposite to not have this sensation, however albeit is improving every day I can't help but feel a little nausea from the tightness. I'm sure this will pass with each and every day as I have felt a little better each day. I too can see the results are just what I was expecting, I'm very very happy. Anyhow, early days yet, so look forward to following you, thank you so much for sharing.

Jordsie, how are you feeling now? Is the tightness loosening up a little? I hope you are seeing the results you have hoped for!

You are blessed to have a supportive husband. As for gracefully, whatever that means, I see no reason why one should resign to looking old if something can be done about it. BTW, you look great.
Welcome to the community and thanks so much for offering your opinion of your doctor.
It would be great if you could give us a little more detail about your experience, like why you had the surgery, your tips for getting good results, pros/cons, and info on the recovery process.
Our community members especially love seeing photos from before, during, and after — a realistic look at what they can expect. Photos grab the attention of the community and encourage more support for you.
As a community manager, I get requests all the time from other members who want me to to keep encouraging people to share their experiences, which are so helpful for others considering these procedures. So please accept this as a well-intentioned request from thousands.
