3 month update Under Review

I can hardly believe it has been 3 months! There is so much to say! Let me start with saying, I am SO glad I did this! My belly is not perfect, but it is absolutely beautiful to me and GREATLY improved. Recovery has had it's challenges. Basically, just my lipo areas ( upper/lower abs and waist) being so sore. Also, swelling still comes and goes, something I get sharp twinges of pain. I've read this is due to the nerve ending repairing themselves. Makes sense and the pain is not severe enough or frequent enough to cause me worry. Also, the frequency decreases as time passes. Massage helps a LOT. Just last week, I was finally able to sleep without compression and not feel significant discomfort. As far as my activity goes, I was able to get back to medium to high impact exercise in about 4 weeks. Before my procedure, I jogged, danced hip-hop, zumba, did spin and lifted free weights. I was able to resume it all by week 5. The key to this was using a waist trainer, not to 'train" my waist, but to keep my liposuction areas compressed and firmly place while I exercised. Without it, the impact would cause everything to shake and jiggle. THAT was painful and just felt funny. So I purchased an workout waist cincher, and I was able exercise quite comfortably.Having this procedure has boosted by confidence THROUGH THE ROOF. Don't get me wrong... I've always thought and been told I was an attractive woman, but my waist, my belly, how it was fat and hanging...it was always a nagging thought in my mind. Sometimes that thought was in the back of mind, but often it would come raging to the front. I would even feel bad when I would feel it move or see it sticking out while I am huffing and puffing in an intense workout, which was my very real effort to address it. The LAST thing you need when you are fighting through a tough workout is to have your mood or spirit brought down. Knowing I had changed my diet, was putting in the work, but that my stomach may be the last place I saw the fruit of my labor was depressing! But now, I am eating healthy with green smoothies and clean eating, and 1 hour of exercise 4-5, and sometimes 6 days a week. I love both feeling and now LOOKING healthy! My very best wishes to all who want to do this. My experience with Sono Bello was great and I would advise my friends and family to use them if they also want help with their stubborn problem areas. Oh, I almost forgot, turns out my doctor, William Jones, is now on the reality TV show Atlanta Plastic! How cool is that!

Tummy Liposuction with Sono Bello After years of...

Tummy Liposuction with Sono Bello
After years of being self-conscious about my belly, I finally decided to go with laser liposuction. I am overweight, but after years of working out (Insanity, jogging, zumba, strength training, various boot camps) and changing my diet (less processed sugar and fat, more earth foods, brown rice, juicing, green smoothies), I just wasn’t seeing the results I wanted in my mid-section. Genetically, my family accumulates belly fat and I wanted to give it a one-two punch with liposuction while continuing to exercise and improve my diet. Ain’t nothing as discouraging as holding planks and doing sit-ups until your abs cramp and are on fire, just to keep looking at a tire around your waist!! I chose laser liposuction because I felt a tummy tuck was too extreme (the large cut) and regular liposuction was known to leave a lot of loose skin. Laser seemed to be the perfect option for me due to the short down time and the claimed tightening of the skin as result of the laser.
My consultation with sales representative, Sahar, was very enjoyable. She was personable and informative. She answered all of my questions. She made me feel as if she was genuinely concerned with my satisfaction. The criticisms about Sono Bello’s use of multiple doctors are true. I did not find that to be a problem, as all the doctors at Sono Bello Atlanta are board certified cosmetic surgeons. Also, I knew the name of my doctor before I put down 1 red cent. Therefore, I was able to do research. My doctor was Wright Jones, M.D. I read good reviews on him, and he has a private practice, separate from Sono Bello.
Just to show how accommodating Sono Bello was to me, in my excitement, I mixed up the day of my appointment with Dr. Wright. I was a day early! Instead of sending me home, Sahar checked with Dr. Wright to see if he would see me that day. He did! Anyone who knows Atlanta traffic in the Dunwoody knows what a relief it was that I did not waste a trip and was not required to come back the next day.
My meeting with Dr. Wright was very satisfying. He was very down to earth, but very professional. He made sure to explain everything and that I had the right expectations of my results. He assured me that his goal was to make sure I was happy.
Operation Day
On the day of my procedure the nurse showed me to a room, gave me those crappy paper bra and panties (those things are SO not flattering!) and made sure I was comfortable while I waited for Dr. Wright to come and mark my areas. So a rested in a reclining chair, with a blanket, playing on Facebook. I also took my own before pics, which I will post. Oh, and the nurse also explained my post-op instructions to my ride, who happened to my bff. I really appreciated that, because the meds can you a lil loopy, and I didn’t want to forget anything,
They gave my “don’t worry, be happy cocktail” and has me to get up on the table. They also played some cool music. ? The procedure went very smoothly. I few pricks here and there, but mostly, I didn’t feel much. He took out soooooo much fat!!! Yay! When he was finished, he gave me a mirror so I could see the initial results. Then they put Poise pads over my incisions (which are very small) put on my girdle and my compression wrap. Okay…that’s over! Time go home!
Day 1 Post-Op
Woke up feeling a lil sore. I made sure to take those pain meds every 4 hours. 24 hours after my surgery, I took my shower. I was kinda scared to see what was under those pads. And boy, they were soaked with fluid! Blech!! Anyhoo, I could already see a big difference. Even with the swelling! My belly was not even in some places and kinda lumpy. But I’m not worried because I know my body is still flushing fluids and it could take a full 6 months to see the final results. By the way, I just want to shout out my bff again. She was so helpful, throwing away those yucky poise pads and helping me to tape on new one. I already owned a waist cincher, so I used that while the doctor-issued garments were washed and dried. Oh yeah, I did started to feel slightly nauseous during the shower process, They gave me a pills for that, so popped one and sat down to write this updated. I’m good!
Day 3 Post-Op
I’m gonna post some pics: Before, Post-op Day 2 and Post-Op Day 3. Then I’ll update after my one week follow-up. So far, I ordered my seconded compression garment through Amazon (cheaper) and made my appointment for my lymphatic massage to get this drainage and swelling moving. And I’m taking arnica, internally and externally and drinking skin detox tea daily and lots of water.
4 days after the surgery, I am still sore and my belly is lumpy, as you'll see from the pics. But from all the research I've read, it will take at LEAST 3 months for me to see the final results. If adjustments are needed, I WILL get them. But for know, if what I see is an indication of what will be, I am will be VERY happy. My belly no longer hangs over!! YAAAYYY!

Dr. Jones was great. He took his time with my consultation. He explained everything in great detail and assured me that his goal was to ensure I was satisfied. He has an approach that is down-to-earth, yet very professional. I haven't had my one week post-op follow-up yet. I'll update in a few days.
