I had otoplasty done by DR. Solomon, and it was the worst experience I could have imagined. I paid 5000$ and anaesthesia was not discussed. The day of surgery I realized he was going to do this procedure without knocking me out. I had a gut feeling it was going to be bad right away but decided to move forward with the surgery because I really wanted to fix my ears... Dr. Solomon told me to take a Valium and when I hesitated to take them he said "hurry up or I'll take them" and I did not find his joke funny. I was having a panic attack because I knew I'd be awake... he told me most adults do it awake but I wouldn't have elected to be one of them if he had told me from the beginning he wasn't putting me to sleep. This was my first cosmetic surgery so we weren't clear on anaesthesia and I just figured every one gets put to sleep for something like this. ANYWAYS, during surgery I kept tensing up because of how scary it was to hear them drilling at my head and the feeling of blood dripping down my shoulders, and he said if you don't sit still you'll have a bad result.. well you should have made sure we were on the same page about what anaesthesia I was getting... then he tried to say we can just stop after one ear and do the other some other day. I said no! Do them both together obviously! In the end I wasn't left botched. My ears are unnatural looking they have the "telephone deformity" and I don't think dr Solomon would re operate to fix his mistake for free so I'm not going to go back to him... unless he contacts me through here and offers compensation. Bottom line is- don't do your ears with this doctor unless you want a horrifying experience.
