I have wanted a breast reduction for the last 10...
I have wanted a breast reduction for the last 10 years. My breasts have always been large, heavy and bothersome.
I finally decided the time was right after I had my daughter. I went to see Dr. Stephenson on December 2, 2016 to get the ball rolling on the process and had my chiropractor (who I had been seeing for years d/t back and neck problems) fax over a recommendation for the procedure. It took 15 days to hear of my approval from the insurance company (UHC). The PS office called me to schedule my appointment and pre-open. I didn't need a mammogram. Blood work was drawn and I saw the anesthesia assistant during my hospital pre-op and I spoke with Dr. Stephenson in his office for his pre-opinion where he explained the procedure and recovery in greater detail and answered my questions. I paid $180 to the hospital and $400 to the PS in order to meet my deductible. So I've only paid $580 out of pocket.
The day of surgery I woke up and washed with the CHG sponge I was given by the hospital. We arrived at 6am, my procedure was scheduled for 0730. In pre-op a peripheral line was placed in my handand fluids were started. Dr. Stephenson came in and marked my breasts, the operating team and anesthetists came in and I was given Versed to relax. I said goodbye to my mom and was wheeled back. I remember getting onto the surgical table and a nurse strapping down my left arm. Then all of a sudden I was waking up.
The anesthesia did not make me sick. My pain is more accurately described as discomfort. It was maybe a 2/10 when I woke up. As soon as I was stable, the nurses brought my mom back and helped me get dressed so i could go home. I slept through the rest of the afternoon and evening.
I was given a perscription for muscle relaxers and percocet. I have been taking both about every 6 hours. My level of discomfort currently is a 1/10. I removed my gauze and showered yesterday (Day 2 PO). I kept my back to the water stream. It was not bad and I felt refreshed afterward.
I have minimal decreased ROM in my arms, but I have noticed some swelling from under my armpits down to my torso. The areas are sort of tender. I am forcing myself not to resume normal activities because I feel good. I don't want to cause any complications.
Today is day 3 PO. I will shower tonight and post more pics. My PO appointment with the doctor is tomorrow afternoon and I will update then also.
10/10 would reccomend this to anyone!
