I am in my 30's and wanted to do a preventative procedure. I also wanted to something to keep my skin looking fresh. I was told ultherapy would be good for these reasons. After 1.5 months of having the procedure done, I started to notice volume loss. I now have jowls and my skin is less firm. I looked younger than my age, now I look older. A nurse preformed the procedure on me, and she was not accompanied by a doctor. I learned after having the procedure done, that in NY if a nurse is performing the procedure she must be under the supervision of a doctor. I really don't know if my results of from Ultherapy itself, or the nurses lack of experience. I have contacted Ulthera the company and they are looking into the matter. If anyone else is having this reaction, I advise you to reach out to the company and file a complaint.

Thank you for sharing. Now I am hesitant to try it.

It has not been a positive experience for me. I actually tried skintyte by Scion , before I did ultherapy. It made my skin look better and a little tightening. If your skin is not sagging a lot, I'd definitely suggest using skintyte. You have to do a series of three treatment and it's much cheaper. I should've just stuck with that, but I wanted faster results.

Your story sounds almost identical to mine. Although the verbiage the company provides says results may vary, no where are you warned that your face might be destroyed. About a month after the procedure my lower face literally collapsed and my mid face dropped. I always had a more prominent nose and now it appears huge and distorted - I guess because most of my face has literally dissolved. I feel ugly - and I've never felt that way in my life. I plan on giving my full story here soon and I have multiple personal photos. Ive always been one who is generally satisfied with services and try not to complain - But this time I just can't sit back and allow this ultherapy to continue sucking people into spending thousands of dollars and not be warned of this risk! I have contacted the company and told my doctor that I think the procedure damaged my face - but no one wants to really agree. I have spent thousands additional since then on Sculptra and fillers, which helped some but no where near what I was before. I don't know what my next step will be, but everyday when I look in the mirror and see my face, I get angry and think that this is just not fair! Once I post my pictures not one doctor will be able to deny that this procedure did not age me as well as destroy my looks. And maybe someone can give me some answers - tell me what went wrong and maybe how to fix it? And also to warn others of the horrible results this procedure can cause!

It hurts me that people were actually hurt this way. Know that your tissues are living tissues that renew themselves. The body knows how to heal. As humans we want to know that we're doing our best to help hour bodies heal. Seek natural ways to nurse your appearance back to what it was. Know that you've helped people by issuing this warning. When you look in the mirror, don't feel ugly or angry. Feel virtuous and brave. And look forward to healing with confidence. It's what the body does.

Thank you very much for those kind words! I am researching ways to help my face get back to it's original state. I have thought about acupuncture. I seen a few good reviews about it.

Thank you for your story. We are saddened to read that you are no longer satisfied with the results of your Ultherapy treatment. Unfortunately, as we've had no reports of dissatisfaction from our Ultherapy patients, we were not aware that a problem existed. Nonetheless, we want to assuage your fears regarding the staff member who performed the procedure, as well as the procedure itself. We strive to provide the best possible care to our patients. As such, we make sure that every member of our staff is supremely qualified. Medical staff attend lectures, meetings and plastic surgery seminars to stay abreast of all new techniques, products and technology. Our membership in various professional plastic surgery associations also keeps us up to date on any other new developments in our field. Additionally, we wanted to let you know that according to NY State Law, Registered Nurses (NPs) are authorized to administer a number of aesthetic medical treatments, including: Laser Skin Treatment for Vessels and Skin, Thermage and Sclerotherapy, Chemical Peels, Facial Extractions, Botox and Filler injections, Microdermabrsions, and several others. All this to say that you were in very good hands. We also wanted to provide some further information about Ultherapy. As with any medical treatment, this procedure has some common side effects - redness and minor swelling and bruising at the treatment sites. There have also been rare reported instances of patients experiencing some numbness (often near the ear), and/or weakness in the lower lip. However, none of the known side effects include volume loss. Generally-speaking, volume loss and/or dramatic reduction in skin firmness in Ultherapy patients could potentially be explained by the natural dissolution of a Botox or filler injection (all filler injections dissolve - which is why injection effects are only temporary). Of course, this explanation only applies to patients who received both a Botox/filler injection and Ultherapy. Our goal is to achieve our patient's desired aesthetic outcomes, and we are successful in this endeavor in an overwhelming majority of cases. Nonetheless, no practice can maintain a 100% patient satisfaction rate - we wish we could. On those rare occasion when the desired results are not achieved, we work with patients to develop a secondary course of treatment. We would be glad to do so in your case, and invite you contact our office at your convenience to discuss options available to you. Regardless of what you decide, we wish you the best.

Hey Meggie1972. Thank you so much for sharing! I don't even know what to do as far as fillers to restore the volume. Is your doctor in New York by any chance?

Hi Bambi1 - no he's not in NY but most of the products he offers are also mentioned by most doctors on this site. I elected the Sculptra because of the natural volume produced by collagen production. It requires several treatments and they are pretty expensive. It's been about 4 months from my first round and I am finally starting to see some improvement. I really wanted fat grafting because I read that if done right, it is pretty permanent and very natural looking, but it is very expensive and may require more than one procedure. I did also get fillers around my mouth and under my cheek bones and thinking about doing this again. I think it was Restylane and it is supposed to last 8-12 months. I did this for the instant filling it provides. I didn't mention in my first reply that my eyes also have had negative effects- they appear more sunken in and area around them just looks odd and dehydrated. I am thinking about fillers in this area next time. If I had to do it all over again I would have skipped the ultherapy and just spent money on the Sculptra. Little did I know that my 3500 dollar procedure would have cost me an additional 5k and counting just to look fairly normal again! Thanks also and best to you. I will be following your progress as you share!
