Smile Direct Club Does Not Make You Smile

I started my treatment with smile direct club in October 2017 when I had my first scan done in nyc and gave a down payment of $250. Within a few weeks I received a 6 month worth set of aligners in the mail and they have been charging me $87 every month.
In March of 2018 I noticed my aligners weren’t fitting properly onto my teeth so I schedule a new appointment at one of their offices to have a 2nd scan done.
Then they advised me to keep wearing my original set of aligners until my new set arrived.
By late May, when I was wearing the last set of aligners from my original 6 month plan, I still hadn’t gotten the replacement set corresponding to the 2nd scan to get the issue corrected.
When I called them they could not tell me when or if this new set of aligners had gone into production.
They were going to investigate.
By early June I still hadn’t received an answer from them. I called once again and they told me the aligners were going to be shipped within a couple days .
They were shipped and I received them.
I was supposed to wear this new set for 3 months which would bring my treatment to a total of 9 months instead of 6.
When I tried to wear this week1/month1, the aligners did not snap onto my teeth. They didn’t hold on to my teeth at all. Completely loose.
I tried calling them and got transferred to a manager who would put me in touch with the dentist responsible for my case and I’d get a response.
Once I again, no one got back to me and this was mid June.
I called them back and was transferred to a manager who assured me the dentist had sent me an email and I told him I hadn’t received any email.
I was put on hold and received and email saying while I was on hold saying that aligners not fitting perfectly is normal.
When the manager came back on the call I once again said that the aligners were not only loose but I couldn’t wear them to sleep cause I was afraid I’d choke on them.
Again, the manager said he’d have someone get back to me within 3-5 business day.
The next day, I scheduled another appointment to have another scan done. My 3rd.
I got to the office and explained everything to the manager of that office.
They did my scan and told me once it’s new scan was reviewed they’d email me with a new plan.
That was June the 21st 2018.
On July 27th I called them once more since I didn’t get anything. No tracking number, no email, nothing. I spoke with another manager who said he’d email me with an answer.
He did saying they aligners were going to be shipped next week after the weekend which would be The first week of August.
The first week of August came and I didn’t get the aligners. Second week went by and nothing.
Yesterday I called again and was transferred to another manager. Maybe the 4th or 5th I’ve spoken to since the whole thing began.
He told me he couldn’t fing anything about my aligners. His words were” they are lost”
He guaranteed me he was going to investigate it and get back to me within 24 hours.
Today, 24 hours later, he hadn’t called me.
I called back and tried to talk to him and was told me he’d call me by the end of the day.
I waited a few more hours and didn’t get a call.
I called back and was told he was busy and would call me tomorrow.
I asked to get transferred to someone else. Another manager/supervisor. The 5th or 6th but I lost count.
I got in touch with the district manager to see if anyone has any idea of what is going on.
I have a call scheduled with someone who will cancel my account as I asked.
I know this is a long review but I’d like for anyone who’s thinking about SmileDirectClub. Don’t.
It’s been 3 months I’ve been in this back and forth.
No one knows what’s going on.
They don’t know where my aligners are or who’s in charge.
Everything I called them I got different stories from different people.
I cannot stress enough how badly they handled my case.
Take your money and go to Invisalign or a different company. Don’t go to Smile Direct Club.

Hi there. First and foremost, we'd like to clarify that aligner fit issues do indicate that teeth are not shifting as projected. This is a normal experience in any orthodontic procedure, as it's not possible to predict exact movement. In this instance, we will provide additional aligners to address the concern. That said, in the event of a delay, we will certainly work to make things right. We will send a DM your way to discuss further.
