The swelling is real…

Went on a vacation last week and let me tell you…the swelling was real. The heat caused so much additional swelling so I wasn’t as confident in my swimsuit as I’d hoped. :,(. It was my first week with no binder and I couldn’t wait to get back home to put it back in. It’s like a security blanket now I suppose. I’ll be happy to get past this phase. Ugh.

Still have some swelling but overall feeling almost back to myself. I do still have some numbness and tingling in the center of my stomach, but it’s significantly better than last week. I do have a few areas of scar tissue here in there that I try to massage daily. I also still have some wrinkling around my belly button which I knew was a possibility because of the lack of skin elasticity that I had after pregnancy. Hoping to see more improvement in the coming weeks but still pleased with my results so far.
I will say… I cannot wait to take this d%#m compression garment off and be free. Lol.

You look fantastic. I'm going in for Smartlipo on upper and lower abs and flanks in 10 days. I'm a little nervous about the recovery. How soon after were you able to get up and around and do light exercise like long walks. Congrats! You really look great!

Thanks so much! Don't be nervous...be excited. :) The procedure itself is the easy part, honestly--once you get the meds you'll be loopy (even though you won't realize it at the time...I thought I was fine) but afterwards will be foggy but you'll remember things. Like me...singing on the table with the doc and the nurse. They had a good Beyoncé playlist and we all sang (how funny yet embarrassing!!!) Lol. I found the first 3 days to be the roughest...you'll be sore and might need some help with basic things around the house. Whatever you do...don't drop anything...because getting down to get it will be a lot of fun (squatting will be your go-to). After about 4 days you should feel a lot better and will be fine taking walks, in fact it's highly encouraged. Even in the first few days you should stay up and walking (standing is the most comfortable position). I don't know about exercising though...I was in no condition to do that because bending will be a bit of a struggle. Bending continued to be tough for me until week 4 honestly. You will get tired of the compression garments and will likely try multiple types like I did just to stay comfortable. Sleeping sucks until week three or so because sleeping on your back is the only real option if you're also getting flanks. I'm in week 5 and I feel good and finally have most of the feeling back in my tummy although some parts feel like they're a little numb and not a part of my body. You'll understand that feeling soon enough...hard to describe. It's allllllll worth it though! I'd love to hear about your experience and happy to answer any questions. :)

Thank you so much for responding. The singing bit is hilarious!! Thanks for all the info. I'll let you know how it goes. I've wanted to do this for years. I couldn't get rid of the muffin top. I'll post my experience as well at some point. It is helpful to have a community to talk to and learn from. Enjoy your beautiful new figure :)

Same here--I talked about it for 5 long years. So when it was time to do it, I had no fear and was fully committed. These types of decisions take time. And I agree--this forum is super helpful. I am constantly researching and learning things.

Thank you so much! I'm feeling great. I think the worst part of the whole procedure is the anticipation of it. I just couldn't wrap my head around it. But once I got there everything went well. I'm sore, on a scale from 1-10 probably a 5. And the water leakage is a pain and so messy, but that stopped today. After the procedure, when the meds wore off I got up and made dinner, and I've been up and around most of the day today. I can already tell that it looks soooo much better. And once the swelling subsides it will look even better. Bye bye muffin top! So glad it's gone. It was making me miserable. I'll send pics soon. Thanks again for sharing and for checking in.

That's so awesome!!!! I'm glad it went well. You're already doing more than I was able to do on day one, so kudos to you! Be prepared for the next few days to increase in swelling and will likely continue for a while. But...you're in the home stretch now! YOU DID IT! :)

You're right. I'm swollen more today and more uncomfortable in the compression garment. I might have done a little too much. So I'm going to take it easy this weekend.

Yeah, take it easy. I had the nerve to try to dance at a birthday party 5 days after because the meds had taken the pain away for the moment. I paid for it the next day. SMH. Baby steps. :)
