I wanted to get rid of the muffin top that wouldn't go away after my second child. I'd done over a year of research but was too afraid to go through with SmartLipo until I met Dr. Berman. I had a prior consult with another local plastic surgeon but the consult felt rushed. Dr. B was sympathetic to ease my anxieties and concerns by spending as much time as I needed to answer all of my questions. The procedure was much easier than I thought and so was the recovery time. My only regret is not finding Dr. Berman sooner! He's my plastic surgeon for life! The best PS in Northern Virginia!

Hi there! I see the little bandages on your tummy (you look amazing!)...my question for you is if there is any permanent scarring after smart lipo? I am looking into this procedure and have quite a few areas I want done- thighs, stomach, love handles, bra rolls. I feel that I bruise and scar easier than most, and want to know if this would be a concern for me.

Hi there! So sorry for delay! The scars are very small, so I don’t mind them at all. I am naturally tan so I do tend to end up with hyperpigmentation with scarring but they lighten up and are pretty much covered up by clothes. But even when I’m at the pool or beach with a bikini, the scars are the last thing on my mind and I really don’t think anyone can notice them unless they’re looking specifically for them. I hope this helps!

Now that it's been 9 months, how do you feel about your results?

Hi! I am still very happy that I had it done. I’m actually thinking about doing one more session this summer to tackle the section of fat just above where you can see the shadowy area from where Dr. B sucked out most of it. I’m super glad I got my bra area and flanks done. I’m loving the fact that I no longer have the enormous muffin top that had excessive overhang at the top of my pants. I think with one more session this would be completely resolved. I will say that smart lipo doesn’t fix the loss of muscle tone women experience after having a baby growing inside your belly for 9 months, especially twice or more. For that, you’d need a tummy tuck - which I’d considered (and I’m still quite torn), but I just don’t feel like my situation is worth the risk of such a major surgery and general anesthesia. My plan is likely to just have it done one more time to target the area just above where he targeted last time and then suck it up and do crunches. Lol

Hey, are bra rolls and back and abs are different areas so you pay for each area? or it is just the core so it is the same area?

Hello! They are considered separate areas. The abdominal area itself consists of two areas (upper and lower). I only had my lower done but am regretting not getting the upper section done as well. That being said, the price per section does go down the more you do in one appointment so that helps. Good luck!

You look great! I’m three weeks post op for my abs. They are really lumpy and hard. Did you get that? If so, when did it go away?
