4 Years Later Update

Someone asked for an update, so here you go. I’m currently pregnant now, so this is a recent photo from before then. My implants have held up very well. They’re soft, symmetrical, and pretty great. I’ve had no complications. I’ll be curious how they look after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

6 Weeks Post Photos

Here's some pics to go along with my update :)

6 Weeks Post... my real update this time

Okay, as promised, I’m taking the time to write a more thorough update. I am just over 6 weeks post and the time has flown by. Probably because I was obsessing over my BA so much leading up to my surgery!

Overall, things have been progressing and healing well. I think by the time you get to about a month, the visual changes you see are a lot slower and small. Like I mentioned before with my pics, my left side is still tighter and hasn’t dropped as much as the right. It does seem like most doctors on this site say that the settling process takes between 3 and 6 months on average. So, I’m trying hard not to make any judgments about that until at least three months have passed. I also realize that I’m probably being really nit picky. In person it is not that noticeable. Plus, I can tell my muscles are just not as relaxed on that side, so I don’t think it’s a matter of some kind of placement or surgical difference.

They both are starting to feel a lot softer too. Even my husband commented that they feel a lot more natural now. For the most part, I am not aware of the implants and they feel like my own. Every so often, I’ll get sharp little pings but nothing bad. I still have slight numbness on the inside edges of each breast but that is going away too. And my nipple sensitivity is gone, thank goodness :) I can easily sleep on my side and have been able to lie on my stomach briefly, but not sleep that way.

I saw my PS last week as well for a follow up. He said that it is very common for one breast to be slower in the dropping process than the other and that they look very healthy at this point. He also cleared me to do anything and wear anything. He even added I could jump out of a plane if I want to, haha :) I'll go back in another six weeks and take pictures. Oh, and he added that my incisions look especially good and seem to be healing faster than average. So, yay for that!

I also thought I’d take a minute to update about my ability to exercise since my BA. Prior to, I usually did weight lifting 4-6 days a week along with yoga. For those ladies who are concerned about giving up their training or want to know what that part was like for me, here’s my breakdown:

Week 1 - nothing... don’t do anything! You probably won’t feel like working out but either way, just take it easy for a week.

Week 2 - I was allowed to do stationary, lower body exercises. Since I don’t have a stationary bike at home, I did lower body things like lunges, squats, and calf raises with no weight.

Week 3 - I continued with lower body exercises and added light weight with dumbbells. I also added abs, which I could do pretty easily if I modified my arm positions. Putting my hands under my head for support was uncomfortable, so I instead folded my arms over my chest to do things like crunches.

Week 4 - started adding light upper body, but no chest. I really had to use my judgment here about what felt okay. Most bicep exercises were okay with the exception of close grip curls with the bar. Triceps were okay too, but I had to modify - no lying down or pulling down variations. Some back exercises were okay as well, but again, nothing overhead or pulling down. And shoulders were surprisingly fine, of course, not with terribly heavy weight.

Week 5 - Legs were back to normal for me with the exception of dead lifts. Still no chest and no pull ups or lat pull downs. Other upper body is mostly back to normal. Overall, I can do almost everything I could before, I’m just more mindful of the weight I choose and making sure I’m isolating my muscles.

I hope that’s helpful for any of you other fitness fanatics out there. I know I was concerned that I would lose a lot of the strength I had built up, but that’s not been a problem. And my boobs do not get in the way :) They just make my gym outfits look A LOT better!
