Just ran out!
WORTH IT
Hi all,
Just a quick update to share that I finally ran out of my serum in APRIL! Wow! The small bottle lasted WAY longer than I would have anticipated - and I used it religiously 1 - 2x day.
I have been very impressed with the results of this product and have placed an order (with my own $) to repurchase. While my opinion is anecdotal, I feel that the serum has protected my skin from further sun damage and lightened my freckles. I've also noticed the pores on my upper cheeks are much smaller. And though I can still see my pores on my nose, but they do look smaller than before. I've also been religious about applying sunscreen daily - but it should be noted that I've done that for years. So the Vit C serum was the only change I had in my routine since before Xmas.
While this serum isn't going to produce the same results as a laser facial or a more invasive procedure, I do feel its helping me halt or hopefully prevent substantial further aging. Plus, it just feels lovely on my skin and makes my skin very soft and smooth. I would say I probably have 2 days/week where I've only worn the serum + sunscreen + powder and eyebrow gel and called myself good to go. This is a big deal for me, because while I'm not someone who cakes on makeup, I do typically have more coverage than powder alone.
I'm a happy new customer!

I'm thrilled!
I'm happy to report that after taking a brief 72-hour break from the SkinCeuticals serum and ALL products/makeup (and replacing makeup, cleaning brushes, etc.) that the red bumps I was seeing dissipated. I was careful to re-introduce the product and based on some of the recommendations of other users, decreased the amount I was applying from ~8-10 drops to between 3-5 drops.
I'm thrilled to report that I'm seeing some results! After such a short period of use, my expectations were very realistic. I assume that any product is going to take at least 6 weeks to demonstrate visible results. But happily, I feel that my freckles/sun spots have lightened quite a bit in the ~35 days I've been applying (not including the 72 hour break)!
As a reminder, I was hoping this product would both help tighten any sagging skin (looking at you, jawline/ neck...), lighten/brighten sun spots and sun damage, and help prevent further sun damage.
I believe its successfully helping on all counts. Its really hard to get photos this close to my face that aren't obscured by a camera flash, but I'm including some pics.
I've taken all photos:
1) In natural light
2) Next to the same window at roughly the same time of day
3) Using no flash
4) Wearing no makeup (except Burt's Bee's chapstick)
5) Using no filter
You can see in my most recent photos that my freckles are lighter/ blend in more, and the darker sun damage around my chin is significantly lighter! (Please ignore the red zit on my chin in the most recent photo - I told you guys, no makeup! This is the real deal! Ha). I've been very pleased with how good the oil feels on my skin, and how it seems to have balanced my T-zone tendency to get oily mid-day.
I've actually left the house often this month without wearing foundation/powder makeup, and having only applied the SkinCeuticals serum, sunscreen, and mascara/ eyebrow filler and chapstick. It's been refreshing!
I also have well over half a bottle left after a month of use, so I'm feeling that while the product is not inexpensive, the bottle appears to be able to last maybe 2+ months. I hope that helps in considering the value. Reminder: I've been applying once per day in the morning after washing my face, before sunscreen, but there have been days where I applied at morning and night.
I'm going to continue using the product and hopefully I'll have even more amazing update photos to share in the coming weeks.

Skin breaking out?
I'm about 17 days into using the product but unfortunately, over the past few days I've developed small, red bumps under my eyes, on my eyelids and some on my cheeks. It's very unusual - not quite a rash but definitely not normal blemishes . I have about 4 under each eye, and a couple scattered across the upper parts of my cheeks and eyelids.
At first I suspected it might have been some sort of bacterial skin infection spread through my makeup (which is also unusual?!), but after spending a day cleaning all my makeup brushes and replacing disposable makeup items, I'm becoming concerned that the reaction might be caused by my use of Skinceuticals CE. :( As I mentioned in a previous review, the serum is thicker than others I've used, and I wonder if its having a comedogenic/ pore-clogging effect, especially in sensitive areas under the eyes?
I don't usually have sensitive skin or reactions to products, but everyone is different. I have been really enjoying the intended effects of the serum (more even skin tone, consistent moisture without an oily T-zone) so I'm hoping after taking a few days off that maybe I can get the bottom of the issue and try using it again. After taking 72-96 hours off the serum, I'm going to try to reduce the amount I'm using and spread it thinner across my face and see what, if any, reaction occurs.
I was not successful in trying to capture the small red dots in a photo - the flash makes them hard to see. Fingers crossed it was just an aberrant skin infection caused by makeup rather than SkinCeuticals! I'll update in a few more days.
