5 Months Post Hemorroidechtomy!
WORTH IT$130
Still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Feeling so much better hygienically, and soooo confident sexually. I only regret not getting this done sooner, and I’m so happy to report that that has been zero regrowth - it’s as if it was NEVER there! Do not hesitate - GET THE PROCEDURE!!!

In-Office Surgical Procedure/Hemorroidechtomy to Remove My Symptomatic Residual Hemorrhoidal Anal Skin Tag
Had my procedure yesterday, and am sharing this because I haven't seen anyone else mention it yet. I am 29 years old, and have had my anal skin tag since I was about 10 years old. It's never caused me any pain or itching, it would just swell from time to time if my bathing suit or thong caused too much friction against it.
I decided to finally look into getting it removed because aesthetically, I wanted to look normal down there. I just moved to Houston and upon a zocdoc search, found Dr. Konya Keeling-Johnson of the Houston Southwest Colon and Rectal Clinic. She and her team were amazing. My 1st appointment was comfortable, and she was able to confidently diagnose exactly what it was. She convinced me to do the procedure in-office, as going under for a surgery would cost me thousands.
2 weeks later, I come in for the procedure, and was slightly nervous about the numbing portion - she did tell me the burning from the numbing needle would be the most uncomfortable part. They applied adhesive pads to my bottom, and sprayed the opening of my rectum with cryo spray, which was so cold that it burned a bit. She then went in with the numbing needle in about 4 different places, which definitely hurt as much as she said it would, but once I was numb, I was NUMB. Due to the size, she took the tag off with fire, and you could see the smoke and also smell it burning off, which was so interesting. It was off in 5 minutes, and when she showed me what came out of me, I was in total shock! It was huge! I've attached pictures.
I left bandaged up with gauze, and two prescriptions for a pain medication, and anti-inflammatory medication. I drove myself home and was completely comfortable. It's now day 2, and I barely feel any pain. I have to put fresh gauzes in there every day until the bleeding completely stops, and take a few sitz baths. But I don't need anymore of the pain medication. I wish I would've had this procedure sooner, and am so happy I went through with saving so much money doing it in-office. Wasn't traumatic or too painful whatsoever, and highly recommend! More than happy to answer any questions you guys may have.

Thank you so much for being brave enough to share your story and especially your photo of a very private area that can be embarrassing. I'm considering doing this procedure but some say it looks worse after because it creates more skin tags somehow? How did yours heal? I would be grateful if you would share an updated photo. Again-thank you for broaching the topic on real self. Your review is the only one I could find on the topic and made me feel slightly less alone/ ashamed. Hope you healed well!
You are absolutely welcome!! Totally forgot to post an update, so I just posted it now! And thankfully I can't relate to what others have said - nothing grew back and it looks perfectly normal!
It was completely healed within just a matter of weeks. I think I was putting dry gauze back there for just a few days. Then I was checking the mirror every day watching it heal and completely close back over.
Thank you for your well wishes, and best of luck if you do decide to get the procedure! And don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions to ask me.
Thank you as well for this info!! Apologize if this is too personal but Wondering how it has been with using the bathroom (number 2) also how has it affected your sexual activity?
Agreed with the previous comment. I really appreciate you sharing. I have one left over from a previous hemmroid episode. Only hemmroid I've had but it left one of these which has left me self conscience especially when getting intimate. I was thinking there was no surgery for this as I've only seen things for removal of hemmroids. I appreciate your insight. Was you able to resume work within a normal amount of time? Think I'll call tomorrow and schedule a consult even though I'll dread the conversation
Good question
i had mine taken off last year !! it was awfully painfully i letrarey cried ! taking off the stitches was that hard part
Hi! Just had this procedure done myself. I'm on day 2 on recovery. In your experience, when did thr swelling go down?
Thank you for sharing this! I don't have the same issue but have cysts in a bunch of places on my body. Scalp, wrist, thigh, even one my vag on the labia majora. That one is small and has been there for almost a decade. I really want to get it removed but am afraid of the feeling of a needle down there. Was the needle you experienced excruciating?
