i'm an athletic almost 50 year old 5'4" 148lbs who cannot get rid of the 'menopot' and the start of gravity on my face! i do have to be honest, i'm very excited, but the more that i read of people's experiences - not seeing results, lumpy/hard spots, etc. i'm starting to freak out.

also, my surgeon told me i would be fine to go back to work after a week of 'chill' and then i could gradually start to work out again, and again, from all i'm reading here, that's not sounding realist. hoping to hear that it's not as bad as i'm reading, that the pain is not crazy insane, and that this is not the biggest vain mistake of my life.

looking for reassurance.

Just read your review finaly, and you're all done. I might add you look fantastic!!! It's hard to find any one remotely close to my age. I'm 60 & going for tumescent Lipo Feb. 5 2015!!!! I was about 154 lbs. at 50 yrs. old then the meno, stress of my elderly parents put me over the top and now I'm post meno now I'm a 169!!! So maybe it was good to nab it when you did. I belong to a fitness club, I go there at least 4 times a week. But usually 5 times in the week. I most likely will be having General annestsia because I'm doing abs, flanks and saddle bags. Did you have General Annestesia? I hate the thought of anything in my throat..but we shall see. I see you wrote you had Jowls done aso. But I didn't see photos of them, but you mention the photo is on here???? I had face lift at 48. Came out awesome, best thing I ever did, look off 15 yrs!!! Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm 36 and have had two kids ages 16-12 and I don't think wanting to feel good about ourselves is vain at all ! :) and some people simply heal slower than others and some can't handle pain like others and some just like to complain lol . I myself heal pretty fast and can handle pain pretty well cause I believe in my bodies ability to heal and do what it needs to . I bet if you go in strong you will come out strong :)

Filled my prescriptions today. After reading all the reviews and experiences that i could on this site, i decided to call my PS nurse and ask a few more questions. She was successful at putting my mind more at ease!

as to my procedure, they are doing tumescent liposuction on upper and lower abs and my jowls. i asked about rimples and dimpley skin after...they combine a laser with the tumescent lipo to heat the fat and to also tighten the skin (is that normal?). i'm happy to hear that they do not have much issue with those types of problems.

as to the compression garment et al, they provide everything i need. YAY! i asked about downtime, as i'm reading some people bounce back quickly and others it is a couple of weeks. they said that the first few days for sure i will know how many muscles i have in my stomache...lol. they said that within 4-5 days, i should be good to go back to work. i asked about working out, and they said definitely not before the 2 week mark, and really, a month of not working out would be best. they encouraged walking, etc, but LISTEN TO MY BODY and take the time to heal.

they did say i will have some 'lumpy bumpies' but those WILL go away and if i follow their directions and wear the garment, that about 6 months i will be thrilled with my results. i shared concerns that in reading some experiences here, that some people did not feel that they had enough fat removed. i was told that they take 60-70% of the fat out, i will have a flat stomach but not to expect 6 pack abs. they have to leave some fat in those areas or i will look odd. is 60-70% average to what others do?

i forgot to ask about arnica...to be honest i'm not even sure what that is. do you all think it is something to search for and get?

ok...that was a lot, but i thought i would share what my PS nurse shared with me!

5 days to go, trying to get all housework done, get work at work settled and then wednesday is surgery! 10 am in the morning...

Best of luck to you! I can't wait to see your after pics and hear how everything went for you! I'll be 52 in a few weeks, 5'3" 140 pounds and will be having lots of lipo done (inner/outer thighs, upper &lower abs, flanks, hips, back) as well as explantation and breast lift November 3rd. In regards to some of your questions - I HAVE read that most PS's do seem to have their patients take arnica and that it really does help with the bruising. Also, regarding downtime - I've been told that the first 48 hours will be the toughest and my husband will be staying home with me on those two days, but after that I should be fine on my own and even though I don't work, I believe it IS common for most PS's to tell their patients they can return to a desk job in a week but if they have more of a physical job then they should take off longer. I've read varying info regarding working out - some say wait 4 weeks, some say 6 weeks. My PS says to wear compression garment for 3 weeks and then I can switch to spanx for a little more comfort and easier to hide with clothing when going out, but I know some PS's say to wear the compression garment for 4 or six weeks. I guess it just depends on what your PS feels is relight for you. I haven't read anywhere about the 60-70% of fat removal that you stated. I find that very interesting and I will definitely ask my PS ABOUT THAT. It makes sense though because I think it WOULD look weird if there was NO fat at all! I hope some of this info is helpful to you. I've been lurking on this site for about a month or so now and LOVE all of the great info and pics that everyone shares. Once again I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and recovery. Please be sure to do updates and post pics!! :-)

I'm almost 51 and recently (26th of September) had vaser lipo done on upper/lower abs and flanks. The procedure itself was fine. My PS took out much more fat than he thought he would be able to (I'm fatter than I looked!). I do believe there is a strong correlation between amout of fat removed and recovery time. I had 3000cc removed ( that's a lot!) and the pain took me greatly by surprise! The good news is that the pain doesn't last for long, by the end of day 3 I felt much better (although still on painkillers). I had originally planned on taking 5 days off work but extended that to 10 days and I'm glad I did. I do think it's hard for dr's to predict how each person will heal. As for my results, well the jury is still out on that, it's only been just over 2 weeks so I think that's too early to tell. What I didn't realize (as I've never had an operation before) is that your skin will feel like it belongs to somebody else. It's a weird sensation to be numb and very tender at the same time. I just keep repeating to my self that this is temporary and in a few months I will have forgotten all about this discomfort and enjoy my new shape. As for working out, well I teach exercise and luckily I can do that mostly verbally as I am not really able to do any exercise yet. I also do some desk work and boy does the clincher (mine has a board as well) make you sit upright! I now watch television perched on top of my coffee table as I cannot sit comfortably on the couch. So my advise would be to get ready for a bit of an uncomfortable ride which will hopefully be worth it in the end. At this moment in time I don't necessarily regret it but I can't say it's been fun in any way. Good luck and I look forward to following your journey....
