Why Did I Wait So Long???

WORTH IT$251
Background: 19 year-old me is covered in facial piercings, including a bridge piercing (barbell through the skin on my nose in line with my eyes) that didn’t want to heal. After struggling with it for several months, I finally remove it, which results in two sunken scars. 19 year-old me is cool with this, since I figured it was making a statement about my journey as a human (I thought I was so deep).
Fast forward to 30 year-old me. I’m tired of the bridge scars, especially since they’re vusible to anyone who makes eye contact with me. I reach out to two different plastic surgeons, who recommend either excision of the scar (which could result in a new faint line scar across my bridge) or fillers for the divots (obviously not permanent). Not exactly thrilled with these choices, my scar revision gets put on the back burner.
And now we’re at present day me: 36 years old and finally ready to do something about these scars. I reach out to a new plastic surgeon, who after a quick consult recommends subcision. Confused, I ask him about excision or fillers, since that was the previous recommended course. He waves these options away, explaining that subcision would be the cheapest and least invasive option, so why not start there?
HE WAS RIGHT. A week later I showed up to his office, was given a numbing shot that took 10 minutes to kick in, and then he inserted a needle under the skin, near the two scars, and proceeded to break up the tissue that was tethering down my scars, creating the divot appearance. I did not feel a thing. 15 minutes and $250 later I was out the door, with instructions to ice.
The first day/night I had quite the headache, but the second day I was back to normal. It took a few more days for the swelling to go down and scabs from where he had inserted his needles to heal. During this time I also did a suction method I found digging around online, to prevent the scars from re-tethering.
I’m now 6 months out and positively thrilled with my results. I do still have very slight divots that tend to reappear as the day ends, I assume because of gravity. I could treat them with another round of subcision, but first I want to give time for collagen to build (using Vitamin C and a retinoid).
I wanted to share my story since scar revision for bridge piercings is really difficult to research online. Subcision is a great, noninvasive and inexpensive option!

Where did you have this done? I’m suffering from the same problem with a really horrible scar from an old piercing and would like to get it removed or reduced....
Do you have any update? I’m hoping to get the exact same procedure done on my bridge piercing scars!
