Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on my BA journey! I have been reading many reviews and stories here at RealSelf.com for a couple of weeks now and it has really taught me so much. I appreciate everyone who has posted and commented! Thank you!
I have scheduled my first consultation for July 18th at Plastic Surgery Associates in Sioux Falls, SD with Dr. Miller. I currently live in South Dakota so it made the most sense to me to start here. The downside is that I do not, personally, know anyone that has gone here so I do not have any personal experiences except the ones posted on here and reviews on Facebook and Google, which makes me a bit nervous but what I have seen has been positive.
I am 29 years old, 5'8" tall, and weigh between 115 and 118 lbs but tend to stick around the 118 lb mark most of the time. I love to workout and have been doing a lot of it lately. My favorite are BeachBody workouts so that is what I do mostly along with some running, Zumba, dance, and elliptical work. I'm really interested in BA and workout success stories because working out is very important to me and and something I am worried about.
I am a mom to 3 littles ranging from 6 years old to 18 months old. <3 <3 <3 I am also a full-time nursing student going towards my BSN and I work as a nursing assistant at a local hospital, soooooo I lead a pretty busy life you could say! I have an amazing husband who helps me tremendously and supports me in everything I do! I couldn't ask for more!
Ever since I was in high school or early college and realized "the girls" stopped growing I have wanted to get a BA done at some point in my life because I have always been smaller chested and uncomfortable with how I looked in that area. I think the highest I ever got was a 32B while pregnant/breastfeeding and now after breastfeeding 3 kiddos I have literally shrunk down to nothing (pictures to come!). I wear my 32B bras still because I am too cheap to go shopping for new ones yet and they actually make me look like I have SOMETHING there when I wear them due to the padding. I would guess that I am actually probably a 32AA or maybe even less (I have not been sized in years) and I would like to go a to full C cup. My husband thinks I am perfect the way that I am and he's more of a butt guy anyway, but he's not arguing the BA procedure either. ;) As I mentioned, BA is always something I wanted done but I could wear padded bras and enhance my cleavage so I got by. Now that I have shrunk down to nothing and cannot even create cleavage I don't even feel like a woman anymore let alone feel sexy... so I feel desperate to get the procedure done now! So, here I am... on the BA journey! Hoping to get my BA scheduled for either sometime in September or October or maybe waiting until December when I am done with finals.
I do have some questions for anyone out there who has opinions or experience:
1. Has anyone breastfed after BA? What are the recommendations and risks involved? I plan to do more research online about this also but I was hoping someone here had some personal experience. We are planning to have at least one more child within the next year or two and I don't know if it is best to wait to get my BA done until after we are done having children or if there will be no issues so I can continue as normal. I am willing to wait if everyone recommends that and plan to ask my PS his opinion as well but I just feel so unhappy right now so I was hoping to get the BA done sooner rather than later if there are no big contraindications.
2. I have the summer off but I will be continuing as a full-time nursing student this fall. My semester runs from August 21st until the first week or so of December. I was considering doing the procedure during the semester if there is a time I have a few days off of class. In your opinion, do you think this would be okay or should I wait until December when I am done with finals and have a month off of school? I'm not sure how long it takes to "feel normal" or how much the procedure will affect my schoolwork and ability to go to class. Opinions and experience greatly appreciated!
3. Considering my lifestyle, height, weight, etc. what would you all recommend for me in terms of type of implant, CCs, profile, saline vs. silicone etc? I'm curious what you ladies think!
I am sure I will think of more questions to ask you all but for now those were the big burning questions I have! Responses are greatly appreciated!

I breastfed 2 babies without any trouble after my first BA. My fist time around I got 375 cc saline and am looking to get a revision to go larger and switch to silicone, Silicone was taken off the market when I had mine done.

Have you heard anything conflicting about silicone and breastfeeding?! Did you notice changes after breastfeeding in your breasts? It's good to know you did not have issues! Were your implants submuscular with an inframammary incision or something different?

I actually had less trouble breastfeeding after my BA ( I hardly produced any milk with my first child), my implants are sub muscular, areola incision. As far as what I have hears about breastfeeding with any implant ( silicone or saline) it all varies, some people have complication and some don't. I assume it is all about the surgeon and how you heal

I thought the bl ba were not a big deal painwise, just threw some frozen peas on them. Now the tt that was bigger pain incisionally, more like my back surgery pain.

I could definitely see where the tt would be more painful! Thank you for sharing your opinion! I have a pretty decent pain tolerance I think but I am not expecting it to be comfortable by any means!

Hello, congrats and making your dream come true! I don’t have kids so i can’t comment on that. But the questions about doing it during the semester you can do it. I got mine done on a Friday nd went back to work Monday! You will be sore and an elephant will sit on your chest for maybe a week or two. I couldn’t drive for a week, shower on my own for a week, and i slept on the couch for a week and a. Hold because you can’t use your weight to pull your self up my sister literally slept on couch with me to help me like i was crippled! You hav medication for the pain it helps a lot!!! But i work at a desk so it was easier for me to go back to work so quick. Good luck I’ll answer any question you have!

Thank you for your response! :) I will be getting it on a Wednesday and going back to classes on Monday. Hopefully that's enough time! :P I have the 3 little kiddos to take care of but my husband is a great help so I know that it will be okay. I worry about overdoing it sometimes! It's getting so close now!

You will be fine! Yes your not going to be able to hold them for a couple days i couldn’t lift anything for couple day it hurt to much to bend over even something light it’s just the pressure on the muscles.

Good to know! I'll have to try to take it easy... which will NOT be easy with my almost 2 year old little mama's girl BUT I will try! =)

Tip- never ever try to pull tale gate hatch down in he first wk or two....ugh so hard! i have a 1,3,5,7,and 10year old so it was tough with the baby but the older kids helped me alot and i done alot of transferring from highchair walker jumper ect and only done lap holds for the first few wks...i made sure i had prepared food that just had to be heated and wrote down simplier to make meals, example spaghetti or grilled cheese tomato soup so i could supervise but have older kids cook...it was beneficial for me but also the kids!

Oh that is a very good tip! I could see myself doing that for sure! My almost 2 year old has to be carried by mommy all of the time so I know we are both going to struggle. I love to baby her because she is my baby and a mama's girl BUT I'm kind of regretting that for this procedure! Hopefully we do okay with it! My husband should always be around so he will be a great help. I haven't thought much about meals but fortunately or unfortunately I make a lot of simple meals right now so hopefully it will work out. My hubby will get some good lessons! ;)

I'll have to bother my hubby for that I'm sure! I don't want to risk having open bottles around the kiddos! Thank you for the tip!

Hi!! So to answer #2, I would say to wait until December because your body type is similar to mine and because I also didn't have much breast tissue to begin with, my healing process was much longer. Most women are back to work within a week but I actually took 1 month off..... I am also a waitress which is extremely strenuous on the body but I am also a full time student. I was able to attend classes after 2 weeks so that shouldn't be much of an issue. I hope this helps!! :)

Thank you so much for your input! I will definitely keep that in mind! I think that my job and clinicals with school could be similar to waitressing at times because of lifting patients etc. so your experience is valuable. I appreciate it!

I bet you will have amazing results! It seems (in my opinion anyway) that women who start of with smaller breasts that are still relatively perky have really good results. I was reading your earlier posts...good call on waiting till December. The recovery was more than I expected.

Well that's good to hear! I hope I have good results! And yeah it's hard to wait once I get my mind set on things but he was booked until sometime in September which is right in the middle of things. Did you have any other input on a BA while still planning to have kids since youre a mom as well?

Waiting is so hard!!! I remember just wanting my surgery date to be here now. My husband had a vasectomy after our second (I wouldn't have minded a few more kids, but he wanted to be done at 2). So I don't know much about breast feeding & pregnancy with implants. I started looking into a BA shortly after the vasectomy & ended up deciding to do it about a year after. My kids are pretty young and wouldn't understand a BA. I just told them that mommy couldn't pick them up because i hurt my shoulder and it needed time to heal during my recovery phase.

Yes! I'm ready for classes to start so I have something else to focus on and keep me busy to pass the time! I think I will have to tell my kids something similar because they won't understand it yet either. Thank you!!
