6 cm diastasis recti and umbilcal hernia

1 month post

Almost 6 weeks!

WORTH IT
I am almost 6 weeks. The muscle repair has completely changed the look of my stomach for the better. The hernia repair changed my belly button for... an ugly innie. I think that can be changed though.
Regarding the skin removal... the mini didn’t remove the skin above my belly button. However a full would have placed my belly button piercing scar and stretch marks on a really weird part of my stomach. Basically, it would have been a compromise either way.
It’s good to realize that you will never have a prepregnancy belly if you’ve had multiple pregnancies and lost the laxity in your skin. I think my hopes were unrealistic.

Dr. Marco is thorough and well versed in surgery. There were a lot of little things done to make the experience as good as possible. I had 8 post op appointments in the first 2 weeks. I haven't heard of any other doctor doing this, and it made the healing progress quickly.

I had a full TT with muscle repair and umbilical hernia. I had also had a belly button piercing. I ended up having a revision to my belly button because I nearly had an outie. My belly button was flat. My surgeon told me there wasn’t much room to go in because I’m so thin but he was able to fix it so that I’m happy with the appearance now. You can see my latest pics in my review.

Garments

I stopped wearing the medical grade compression garment at 4 weeks. At 3 weeks I had stopped wearing it at night. I’ve been in this Spanx high waisted pantie since that time. A couple days ago I put the compression garment back on after an intense outing that left me very swollen.

The Spanx doesn’t provide anywhere near the stability of the garment, so I get some swelling above my belly button. Yesterday, I bought a binder just for that part. I don’t wear it all the time, just when I’m swelling and need a bit more support.

I measured my waist this morning and was 23.5” I’m not sure what I was before, but I think it was 27”.

My belly button is less than stellar but will consult with my doctor about a revision after the 6 month healing period.

Swelling and funky belly button

I am going to see if the belly button hood can be fixed. Everyday I pack the belly button with gauze to make it look somewhat normal.

Still have swelling, but has gotten better around the incision. Hoping it goes away.

The incision is great. Still red but is completely closed so I’ve started putting vitamin e and coconut oil on it.
