Cambridge Therapeutics in Singapore is Not the Best Choice

Please don't try it.

$1,365
It's only been a few months now so still too early to say anything about the results.

However i wanted to address something. I think someone left a comment on my previous post (she either deleted it or ceased her realself membership) about how she's torn. She really wants to try hifu but she saw all the flak it got. But she's still thinking about it.

Not sure if she'll read this, but my opinon is a resounding NO. And this is for everyone looking to try it but are unsure.

Everything in life carries risk, but this procedure is such a big irreversible risk that it's not worth it. The statistics of the bad far outweigh any good. Why would anyone still wish to try it after reading the stories of hundreds of pained and disfigured women? The worst thing is that you have to wait a year or two to declare 'yes it worked! no damage done!' or '[RS bleep] what the hell have i done to myself'.

So, No. Don't do it.

Hey, I just wanted to check in and ask how you're doing today. Have you noticed any adverse effects this long after the treatment?

On a sidenote- Stay strong!

To all those who've just had ultherapy done and are [RS bleep] scared off the effects after reading the reviews here, don't be! There's nothing you can do to turn back time and worrying does you no good. Stay positive and just keep thinking "it won't happen to me!"

Take comfort in the fact that ultherapy has worked for many people and with no bad effects. Just like any other procedure, it will work for some and not for others. Also a lot of people are mentioning that the celebrities who've done it look weird and different. I disagree. Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston still look amazing. No celebrity has had reports of having fat melt off their faces. If there were we would have heard about it already. Unless of course they were lying about using ultherapy.

So stay strong, stay positive and believe wholeheartedly that it will not happen to you <3

Couldn't agree more. I really can't understand what "horrible side effects" these people are spreading fear about. Ultherapy is NON-INVASIVE and it has worked but so many people. I think they are referring to surgical facelifts that have horrible side effects?? ^.^
Hi - can you update on if you feel your area "ok" still after the procedure? Had my chin/jaw done and the nurse did my cheeks because she said it was necessary to see a difference...I'm so petrified and losing sleep over this!
ORIGINAL POST

This is more of a clinic and doctor review rather...

This is more of a clinic and doctor review rather than a procedure review. Also one of my treatments was HIFU. It's basically ultherapy but HIFU is not part of the 'procedure type' list.
A few months ago in February i decided to go to Cambridge Therapeutics (Singapore) to try their v-line face treatments. Although Cambridge Therapeutics has very little reviews online, i decided to try it because a few high profile instragrammers and singapore bloggers were going there for treatments.
Before this visit and even as far back as last year, i did so much research on ultherapy and read all the horror stories. I vowed never to have it.
During my consultation with Dr Lee, i mentioned a few times that i had heard horror stories of ultherapy and thermage and how it can melt fat off your face. So knowing my fear, he decided to then recommend Hifu and his kinetic jet lift.
LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT HIFU IS THE SAME THING!!! IT'S ULTHERAPY UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME OR MACHINE WHATEVER!
I only realised this when i got home after treatments and did a bit of googling to see what results can be expected. I was really horrifed and i started panicking. How could i have let this escape me during my previous research??
The doctor might have been confident with his skills but he should have told me that HIFU is the same as ultherapy and at least leave me with the decision to try something else. In addition to that, while i was being prepped by his assistant, i asked her "This definitely does not use heat right?" And she said, yes it does not. Was it a lie or mere ignorance? Either way it's unacceptable especially if you're a doctor's assistant!
The icing on the cake was during the Jet Lift. I won't go into the science of it but basically it helps lift your face by placing high pressure energy all around your scalp and behind your ear area. After we were done and the doctor left the room, the assistant held up a mirror to let me see the effects. My face was definitely more tightened and shapely but one side was bigger than the other! So we had to call the doctor back in to even it out. How could this have escaped his attention? The fact that i, the patient, had to point this out was ridiculous. Yes since it was an evening apppointment he might have been tired and therefore a bit rushed and negligent BUT IT'S NO EXCUSE!! You're playing around with people's faces here. If you can't bloody handle the workload then lessen it or stop practicing altogether. This isn't an emergency room or hospital where they have to work really long hours to save lives. This is a cosmetic clinic. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
So that night after learning i had been given ultherapy i was so upset. In fact i was worried for weeks and weeks. For those online who had bad effects with ultherapy, some of them only started seeing the horrible effects after 3-6 months and some even a year! What the hell so i have to wait an entire year to see if something bad happens? I was so bloody angry. And the worse thing is that there was nothing i could do about it. Calling the doctor and complaining would not solve anything. There's no reverse procedure. I just had to try my best to stay positive.
This review is about Dr Lee and Cambridge Therapeutics and NOT about the results of the procedures. Because even if the results are amazing, i was still lied to and treated negligently. They also seem to keep pushing their hifu and jetlift package even though they do other face slimming stuff too so i'm guessing they have to pay off the debt of their machines.
I really don't understand some of these cosmetic doctors. Don't they know the huge responsibility on their shoulders? At the end of the day don't they want to pride themselves on a job well done? And most importantly, isn't care for your patients the top priority? Why would you purchase an ulthera or thermage machine even after a large amount of complaints all around the world. That shows that care for your patients is not a top priority at all.
It's all about the money. And destroying people's faces and lives in the process. Thanks a lot.

Very well said. They really are playing Russian roulette with people's faces. I wonder if it was HIS mother, or HIS wife, if he would make sure the settings were right, and the sides were done EXACTLY the same. Such carelessness and lack of attention to detail, especially with these machines can have catastrophic effects. But, they just weild it around like a toy. The industry has crossed over into dangerous new territory, and I don't think the doctors REALLY understand the power they're applying. They're "told" about it by reps, but anybody with a medical degree should prudently reevaluate what exactly they are administering so close to the eyes, brain, lymph nodes and all of the other delicate structures of the head. THESE MACHINES AREN'T PLAY-TOYS!! The fact the esthy didn't know heat was involved shows her complete ignorance, and that ignorance is probably prevalent (and passed down) throughout that clinic. That same pattern is repeated all over the world. They don't know what the hell they're handling. How long ago did you have it done, and what are you experiencing? I hope things turn out well for you.
Not to mention, the doctor didn't know HIFU was Ultherapy, or.. he purposely didn't disclose it. Either way, it's a complete dereliction.
Hi tuffy thanks for your comment. I had it in February so around 4 months ago. At the moment there hasn't been major changes except for a bit of hollowing under my cheekbones. However it's hard to tell whether it came from the Hifu, the jet lift or the fact that I lost weight these few months. I'm trying not to regret and just move forward. I'm also a patient and hopefully future practitioner of qi energy healing so I'm trusting in that to help get me through this without any bad effects.

In fact I really want to recommend my master to some of these poor women in this forum because sessions can be done over the phone as it's healing by voice transmission. He's fantastic. I just don't want them to think they're being scammed again. However it's something I'm seriously thinking of doing. And I swear this is not a business plug Lolol :)

I've also decided to start with cosmetic acupuncture to try fill out the hollowness and to also combat the other general signs of aging.

I've googled and looked on Instagram and blogs of Dr Lee's past patients and they seem to be doing ok. I've also looked for other Singaporeans who've done ultherapy at other clinics and they seem to be fine too. However the oldest blogs/advertorials are only 2 years old so I'm guessing only time will tell.

Regarding the doctor, I have to be fair and mention that there MIGHT have been a miscommunication. He might have thought I already knew Hifu was ultherapy but he was confident of his skills.

However the fact that the technician said that it wasn't heat was ridiculous. If i knew I would have hopped off the table immediately.

So fingers crossed for everything :)
The jet lift is actually pretty safe i think. But yeah my face was unevenly done and it was really obvious. That's why even the esthetician knew she had to bring the doctor back into the room to fix it. The Jet lift alone gave me what i wanted. There was no use for the hifu
Is the jet lift a one time thing or one requires few sessions to see the result. Besides Cambridge Therapeutics, can you recommend any who does this process? I’m not from SG but will be there or 6 days
hello, thanks for putting this review up. I was actually considering doing HIFU and kinetic jetlift. So I have also done ALOT of research about Ultherapy and read all the horror reviews. I think that even though Ultherapy and HIFU stems from the same technology, it's not really exactly the same thing. Ultherapy is reported to be so excruciatingly painful that you need to have a nerve blocker to go through it. And from what I understand HIFU is seems relatively mild compared to Ultherapy.
The doctor is definitely in the wrong for not explaining that both (ultherapy + HIFU) are the same technology but I don't think you should worry too much.
I have done thermage 2.5 years ago and initially there was some shrinkage, like my face became much thinner, but my facial fats eventually grew back to normal and healed itself.
stay strong and hope you see some good results soon.
Hi Zhen thanks for leaving a comment :)

Unfortunately it's the same. It's just that hifu is less painful but the amount of energy directed and the outcome is still the same. I've seen some doctors here on realself say this. I hope you didn't go get it! The kinetic jet lift is great and there's no heat or ultrasound etc so maybe just stick to that if you haven't already. And even though i don't recommend it (because we haven't seen any long term consequences), dissolvable thread lifts are better too.

You're really so lucky that your face went back to normal!
Dr Lee Mun Heng from Cambridge? I accompanied my sister to his clinic for nose threading before. We found him both very professional and patient with our queries. Could there be an misunderstanding? I recommended my friend for threads as well and she was happy with his skill and person too. Not sure about HIFU as I've never done it before but my experience with Dr Lee so far has been extremely positive.
Yes I think he's very friendly too. But all that I wrote is exactly what happened. And I did mention that there might have been a miscommunication.

However with something like Hifu and ultherapy you absolutely cannot have any miscommunication whatsoever because the risk of something going wrong is too great. With nose threading there is less risk and if you don't like the result the procedure is not permanent.

If you look up ultherapy and Hifu on realself you'll see terrible stories of women whose faces have melted off and lives completely destroyed. There's no room to play with this.

For myself, I had loss of volume under my cheekbones which I really hate. I have no choice now but to live with it and maybe consider fillers in the future.
I feel the need to say this as your comments are extremely one-sided. Ultherapy has been around for a long time and I have many friends who do it and love going back for more sessions.

I have personally tried the HIFU and AirJet combination and I absolutely LOVE the results. There is no pain and no downtime compared to surgery, plus the prices are so affordable - what's not to like?

Just because you are a non-responder to the therapy or did not like the treatment does not make the treatment itself bad. Why use scare tactics like horrible side effects lol??
HIFU is one of the gentlest therapies available. Perhaps you should be referring to cosmetic surgery that has permanent horrible side effects!!
Hi may I ask how long does the jetlift effect last ?
