Hello!
I am having this procedure done in July by Dr Nettle from Silkwood Medical in Sydney, Australia. I am a 25 year old female who will be travelling interstate for it. I would love to get in contact with anyone else who is also having the procedure done by him this year, preferably females of a similar age. Also, if anyone has had this done and would like to get in contact with even some before/after photos or advice that would be great!
Thanks!

I have a consultation in June 2016 for this Procedure. Please let us know how yours goes. All the best :)
February 25, 2016
Thanks, I will! I would love to hear how your consultation goes as I don't have mine until the day before the surgery! Is yours also with Dr Nettle?
February 26, 2016
yes, with Dr Nettle. From the research I have done, he seems like the best to go with in Sydney for this particular procedure. Interesting that your consultation is the day before your OP. Did you organise this by photos and from interstate?
February 28, 2016
Yes he was happy with my photos and we had a phone consultation and he was happy I was a good candidate, and it is much easier for me to only travel to Sydney once. I didn't need to consult with anyone else I was so happy with him and his before and after pictures!
February 28, 2016
I'm really excited for you. If you have an opportunity to upload some photos after your OP, that would be great.
February 28, 2016
I absolutely will! Thank you! Good luck with your consultation and hopefully books yours soon!

26 Years Old, Hairline Lowering with Dr Nettle, Bondi Junction, AU
Nc2906August 12, 2016
I am currently just over 2 weeks post op after having my hairline
lowered by Dr Nettle from Silkwood Medical. I have been so surprised as
to how easy the healing process has been and how little pain I've had. I
have wanted to have this procedure done for close to 7 years now when I
first discovered it but my high hairline has been an issue long before I
knew there was a fix for it, going on about 14 years now. Since then I
have had a fringe or headband permanently covering my forehead and my
biggest motivation for having this surgery was because I realised how
much it was effecting every aspect of my life, I was sick of saying no
to things I wanted to do because my fringe might get out of place! I was
originally planning on travelling to America to have this done until I
discovered Dr Nettle and after spending hours looking through his
website, Facebook, realself and all his before and afters I had no doubt
that he was the surgeon for me and he would be able to give me an
amazing result. Given that I live interstate, I chose to send Dr Nettle
photographs of my forehead and hairline and had a phone consultation and
then only have my face-to-face consultation the day before my surgery. I
understood that there was a risk by doing this but chose to accept it
and it ended up being the right decision for me. Dr Nettle and his team
at both Silkwood and Bondi Private hospital made me feel nothing but
comfortable and safe throughout the whole thing from consultations to
pre and post op. Dr Nettle made himself available to me at any time by
providing his personal contact number and, although it was never
required, it was comforting to know if I had any concerns I could
contact him. I barely had any pain besides an unfortunate side effect
from taking Codeine which I've now discovered doesn't agree with me and
had no problems sleeping or managing my pain with just paracetamol, I
was out and about (although taking it very easy) the second I had my
bandages removed! When I had the bandages removed after only 2 days I
knew immediately I'd made the right decision and Dr Nettle had done an
incredible job, 2 weeks later I look at myself in the mirror and I can
hardly remember what I used to look like because it looks so natural
already. I have had a very small amount of hairloss along the scars at
either side that go back to just above my ears but so far I have had no
hairloss at all along my forehead and have already got hairs growing
through and on the other side of the scar! The scar is of course still a
bit red which is expected but I'm already amazed at how well it is
healing. I without a doubt would recommend both this procedure and Dr
Nettle to everyone and I couldn't be happier with my results so far!

Your results look great! I'm getting my done this week! How many cm were you to start and how much did he remove? Thanks!
August 14, 2016
About 7.5 before and now 5 :) good luck!! You won't regret it, the first few days are the hardest but it's so worth it. Where are you getting it done?
August 14, 2016
Dr Kabaker too! I'm debating between 2-2.5 cm :) does he help you decide at all?
August 14, 2016
Sorry wrong post! Dr Kabaker is doing mine! Good to hear it's worth it! I'm so happy for you! You look great!
August 14, 2016
I had mine done with Dr Nettle in Australia (who trained with Dr Kabaker for this procedure!). But yes I'm sure he will help you decide based on your facial proportions, I already had an idea in my head of where I wanted to go to and it ended up being basically the same and I couldn't be happier with it :)
August 13, 2016
your results looks great! i'm about 1.5 post op and i love my new forehead. like you, i'm also amazing by how easy the healing process is! however, the numb scalp has been a bit strange for me. lol can't wait for it to come back.
August 14, 2016
The numb scalp is so weird! I hope it comes back sooner than later but it's such a small price to pay!
August 14, 2016
the top of my head feels like a hard rock! lol but you're totally right. definitely worth it!
August 23, 2016
Have you had any more hair loss? I'm 7 weekspost op and have experienced quite a lot :( still happy with result but hopefully grow quickly! Looks great
August 23, 2016
Aw I'm sorry to hear that, I don't believe I have, nothing obvious along the scar line and no extra hairloss when I brush my hair/shower. I'm exactly 4 weeks post op. It sounds like I'm pretty lucky but I believe it's possible that is could happen for another few months. Is yours really noticable? Any new growth yet? How's your scar looking at 7 weeks? I'm hoping the redness goes away soon for me!
August 25, 2016
Yes very noticeable. I've just posted my review up (think it should be live tomorrow) if you would like to take a look at it. I do see some hairs coming through so hopefully it grows quickly. The redness has went down a lot so don't worry about that! :)
August 25, 2016
That's good it's starting to grow!! Just keep what you're doing and it'll probably all start growing back now and you'll be a lot happier. Everyday it looks better for me but I definitely can't wear my hair back just yet, maybe if I put makeup over it but I don't want to just yet. Will check out your review when I can see it!

4 months post
4 months post op.
Nc2906November 15, 2016
Just wanted to post a quick update with how everything is going after 4 months since the op. There's still lots of healing to be done but I am very happy with my results so far. I have zero pain now, there's been no pain since maybe 1 month post or even before! I'm not wearing my fringe off my face very often yet, the scar is still too noticeable for me to feel 100% comfortable yet, I'm not big on makeup so until it's unnoticeable with no makeup or just a tinted moisturiser I will continue to keep the scar covered. In saying that, that is just my choice as I prefer to keep the scar clean, once or twice I have worn my hair off my face with some concealer and no one (including myself) could notice. The scar is still slightly red but I know part of that is related to the massaging I do at least once a day: Hair is growing through the scar and even on the other side of the scar so I have no doubt it will be completely camoflaged in another few months. My only complaint at this stage is the scars from my temples back on either side of my head which are still noticeable when I tie my hair back if I'm not careful, but I have noticed a huge improvement in this area just in the last week or so. I am completely 100% happy that I had this done and could not recommend Dr Nettle enough. For anyone in Australia considering this there is no reason to travel to America to have it done (which I definitely looked into myself as well!)

Hi, it looks amazing!! Im so happy for you. Could yo make an update may be someday about if you experienced hairloss or less thickeness in your hair post op?
November 15, 2016
Thank you! I couldn't be happier! I have not noticed any thinning hair, I don't have particularly thick hair in the first place so I think it would have been noticeable if I had. I didn't lose any hair throughout my hairline either. I lost some hair around the scars on either side from my temples back which is why the scar there can be noticeable. I have had lots of new hair growth though but it will still be awhile before it's all filled in again I think. I didn't end up using any hairloss products either.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your story :) I live in Perth and have been looking into doing this for years with Dr Nettle. I feel like he creates a very natural and wavy looking hairline rather than straight across. You're results are amazing!
I finally have an initial appointment with him early Feb which I will most likely do via skype. The price I was quoted was $15,500. Was your surgery really only ~$10,000? If so I wish I'd booked earlier
December 21, 2016
Hey! Sorry, I must have missed your comment. I truly believe Dr Nettle is incredible at this! I have also seen the results where the surgeon just brings the top down to create a straight line (which I believe is much easier). I couldn't be happier with my results! I paid around the same as your quote I think. To be honest I'd pay it again in a heartbeat! It's so worth it. Keep in mind, I still have a slightly visible scar if I was to pull my hair all the way back, it is improving every day but at 5 months post op it's important to be aware of this before going into it. Good luck with the decision!!
December 22, 2016
No problem! Thank you for replying :)
I'm definitely going to go ahead with this surgery, patiently waiting for my initial consultation!
Just wondering if you are able to use concealer or foundation to cover up the scar at this point if you really did want to wear your hair pulled back from your face? :)
December 22, 2016
Yes I definitely am now and no one would notice, and I can wear my hair with a centre part and no fringe without makeup and you would never tell. My right side is taking longer to heal and for the hair to grow through (Dr Nettle warned me that one side would always take longer) so it can still be noticeable with no makeup over it. It's improving with daily massage and I know the hair will grow through eventually like it has on the left side :)
December 22, 2016
Just go into it with your eyes open! Based on everyone's before and after photos I really believed by this long post op the scar would be entirely imperceptible. I'm in no way disappointed I just wasn't being realistic. I believe most people's after photos when you can't see the scar only a few weeks post op are strategic photos with makeup etc as we all want to think the scar is gone!

Hi again! Thanks again for sharing your story.
I'm just wondering if you stayed in Sydney the entire time, up until the suture removal? I have been told by silkwood medical that there is sometimes the option to stay in Sydney for only 5 days post op (rather than 10) and have the sutures removed by a doctor in your home state. Also wondering if you were able to enjoy a little of Sydney while you were there, ie did you feel up for going to a restaurant or walk etc after a few days post op?
Would be great to hear back from you!

Hello! My surgery was on a Tuesday, I decided to drive to Sydney from Brisbane (worked out cheaper than the flights I found, we hadn't done the trip before so we thought we could see a bit on the way down etc). We arrived late Sunday night. Monday I had my first face to face consult with Dr Nettle and then Tuesday I had the first surgery of the day (I arrived around 7am I think from memory!). They wanted me to spend most of the day in hospital but I went a bit crazy and needed to get out of there so I self-discharged only a few hours after surgery. I spent the rest of the day and Wednesday in my apartment (I found it too difficult to cover the bandages so I just didn't bother although I actually felt fine! Thursday morning I had my bandages removed, I went back and washed my hair and then went out straight after with a headband on and spent most of the day out and about. Friday morning I drove back to Brisbane. I felt tired more easily but the pain was more than manageable. I decided to have my first lot of sutures and staples (every third) removed by a GP in Brisbane. It was a bit awkward explaining and showing a random GP my sutures but mostly she was just interested. I then flew to Sydney just for the day for my final sutures to be removed so I could have a checkup from Dr Nettle to ensure I was healing okay. I stayed in the Meriton Bondi Junction and would highly recommend it, it is very close to both Silkwood and the hospitaland you really want to be comfortable the day you are stuck in your apartment bandaged up. Good luck with everything! If you have any further questions let me know!

Looks like you had a great result. Are you still happy 6 months later? Any advice or tips for getting this procedure? How much did it cost? Happy it turned out well for you ☺
Sooo exciting! We'd love it if you posted photos (even of just your forehead) so we can visually follow along on this journey with you. I hope you can find a surgery buddy! How many doctors did you consult with before you chose?
