Silikon 1000 - I greatly regret this decision

Silikon 1000. Do Your Research

I had silicone 1000 injections from around 2017 or 2018 for acne scars and as time has gone on the injection sites have gotten more and more red. I also wear sunscreen everday. I greatly regret this decision as now instead of my scarring being noticeable, the redness is noticeable.

I tried getting ipl laser sessions to reduce the redness and there was no change. The doctor who did the silicon injection procedure told me there's nothing more that can be done but that he doesn't think it looks bad. I obviously feel differently.

I tried seeing another doctor who used an aerolase laser and it did absolutely nothing. I contacted Dr Harrison Lee who's a celebrity plastic surgeon and known for silicon injection removal and he told me he's sorry but there's nothing he can do after I told him it was silikon 1000.

All of the dermatologists I saw for this said they would never recommend permanent silicon injections and that's on me for not doing enough research. I don't know how many people have this side effect from these injections. There could be others or even most people who have no discoloration but my advice is to just really do your due diligence before making your decision. My concern is this is only 4 or 5 years after the procedure so what will this look like 20 years from now.

If there's any doctors who have any advice or recommendations about other methods to reduce redness or ideas for the removal of the silicone please let me know. Thank you

Hi, I have a blog about my experience with silicon 1000 if you want to read it. There is not much you can do about silicon 1000 because it migrates and intertwines within the nerves and tissues. Can you feel it ? If It's in a hard ball, you might might be able to have it surgically removed. I have a surgeon in Florida. I also have one in New York... LMK

Call Dr. Katzen in Los Angeles.

Who was your injector?

Dr Eric Joseph. To be fair I don't think it was his injecting technique that caused this issue. It was a combination of the silicon substance and my skin type that didn't work well together.

I had Silikon 1000 injections by him too. Biggest regret of my life.

Has he not offered you a solution to remove it. He’s constantly responding to removal questions with “ lightly cauterizing” or excising it

I re-visited his office around 3 years ago and had 3 separate IPL laser sessions done by his technician who was very sweet. She also gave me different creams to use but the lasers nor the cream did nothing to reduce the red areas. On the 3rd session he came in and told me that unfortunately there was nothing else that could be done and that "it doesn't look that bad". I figured at that point there was nothing that could be done because I feel Dr. Joseph would have recommended something else but he didn't.

yes make sure you dont do any other injections e.g. botox etc.. and no microneedling and lasers cause it can irritate the areas more.

Silicon 1000 should only be used for detached retinas by eye doctors. Plastic surgeons and ENT's started using this material off label and it is not FDA approved. Now us patients are suffering years later while the doctors are not held accountable...

i had some done by Dr. Barnett in NYC as well about 15 years ago and totally regret it now. I read that steroid injections can help dissolve but I'm not sure.

Try Hydroquinone cream my brother. Use it for three months and stop and see how it is. It’s been a godsend for removing red hyperpigmentation in my skin.

It takes a while to work but you have to take a break every few months. Do research first but I think you might be in luck
