Ulthera for Silicone Revision in Lips

15 years ago - when I was barely 18, I made the worst mistake of my life by having silicone injections in my lips. At first it looked good, but over time my body became sensitive and continued to grow scar tissue around the silicone microdroplets, causing them to look very large and unnatural. At one point, strangers would stare at my lips and laugh. It ruined my self esteem. I’ve since had multiple surgeries that have helped tremendously - but they are still far from looking natural. Every new surgery leaves a trail of scar tissue which makes the lips move in an unnatural way. The swelling and pain is horrible and the downtime is at least 4 weeks - and with each new surgery the recovery time seems to get longer. After the 4th surgery I decided that I just couldn’t go through another, and I started looking for a dr who would try ultherapy on my lips. I’d heard about a Dr. in Connecticut having success with this procedure, and I began looking for someone on the West Coast to help. No one was willing to investigate further until I met Dr. Mann. He went out of his way to help me; he called the Dr on the East Coast and learned the protocol, took over an hour making sure I was numb and comfortable during the procedure and was truly kind and understanding throughout this whole process.
It’s been one day since the procedure and I have high hopes. The procedure was affordable, painless and had no downtime. I will need about 3 treatments spaced 2 months apart. Stay tuned to this space for updates on progress.

Hi, what exactly is Ultherapy supposed to do for your lips?

It causes the skin and tissue to contract. At higher frequencies it can help to reduce the amount of scar tissue that surrounds and encapsulates the silicone. It also softens the tissue, allowing them to take on a more natal shape. It’s been a couple weeks and I think I’m already seeing a small improvement.

Interesting. Please please keep us posted! I've never heard it used for that before. Take care, and best of luck.

Thank you! I will continue to update as I see results.

Good luck< I truly hope you get god results. I am looking in to this as an alternative to surgery for some loose skin under my chin since losing a massive amount of weight. No amount of creams or working out will help so if this doesn't I would have to live with it or go under the knife. Which I really don't want to :(

I have an idea! Take proteolytic enzymes. Google it. They’re systemic enzymes (particularly serrapeptase) that break down fibrin and excessive scar tissue in the body. I personally like ProOnenzyme because it has 360k HUT. It’s hard to find that strength. People also love Wobenzym. If you look at the bottle it appear inferior but I’ve heard some amazing reults in joint pain and arthritis from that brand. Take at least 3 in the AM with a B Complex 30 mins before food. If you take the enzymes with food the enzymes become digestive instead of working for your system. It took me about 5 mo’s to notice a difference. Initially, I was taking them to break down the fibrin in cellulite. Don’t know if it made a difference (cupping did), but I discovered other benefits. The scar tissue in my ankle softened. It became more flexible. I noticed because my form was better doing squats. I didn’t have a huge issue about my boobs being capsulatee, but they became softer. However! I’ve been slack about taking them this year and I swear one of my boobs is hard again. ;( I don’t know enough about the science of why it would return, but I’m back on them. They’re great for inflammation in the body as well... if you ever wake in the morning with stiff ankles from wearing heals etc. Good luck to you! I had injections 4 yrs ago. They will not go away! It was supposed to be HA, but why is it still there? I went from the prettiest I’d ever been to a fat face & avoided FB pics for over a year. It’s subsided, but occasionally swells my face.

Thank you for this idea! I think I’d read about this before, but you know how it is when you’re researching: there is so much info out there it’s tough to figure out what to try. I’m going to give it a shot. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I also was told that my filler would go away in 3 to 4 years. It never went away. It’s just evil that someone could Lie and ruin someone’s life for a few hundred bucks. How are you doing now?

One more thing. I just had Ultherapy last week. My face is BADLY burned. You can view my post. It may take 24 hrs to post. I don’t think you’re in any danger. The nurse had it on the highest setting.

Hi Anarue, I’m so sorry you had this experience with Ultherapy. I hope you’re doing better now. I have mixed feelings about Ulthera. I know it can and does cause problems for people - reducing volume & fat - this is why I did it for my lips. I hope that things get better for you soon.

One Month Update

It’s been a little over a month since my first Ultherapy procedure on my lips. I know this is only the first of probably 2-3 sessions, and I’m only a month out (results are visible for this kind of procedure from 1-3 months), but I do think I’m seeing very subtle positive changes. For one: my mouth feels a lot less hard, which, for those of you with silicone, I’m sure I don’t have to explain what I mean by that. My smile is less distorted when I smile because the hard scar tissue from the silicone and multiple surgeries is more flexible. The bulkiness looks ever so slightly less, and is probably noticeable only to me at this point, but a few mm can affect a positive change, even if someone doesn’t know what you had done because the change is so small, a few mm can still make you look better.
Now when I go out, people comment on my cheeks (which I had permanent filler in as well, unfortunately) instead of my lips. I wouldn’t say my lips look natural yet, but I think this is a step in the right direction. I will continue to update at 2 months, after my 2nd procedure at one and 2 months and after my 3rd procedure at one and two months.
Here’s to not hopefully not having to go back under the knife.
