My nose has always been something that made me...

My nose has always been something that made me self conscious. I absolutely hated taking up close pictures and being up close with people because I felt my nose just stood out. Your eyes should be the first thing someone notices about you NOT your nose. I was never teased about my nose but I was practically teasing myself by not being able to feel confident about the way I looked. So when I turned 18 a few months ago instead of asking for a car I asked for a nose job lol. Seems silly but I can wait to go get my own car. I'd much rather go with the rhinoplasty surgery. After years of my mom saying no to having surgery on my nose she finally agreed to go with it! She said she would take me to go get it done this summer before I leave in the winter time for Navy bootcamp in Chicago. So in July we scheduled a consultation with The Wall Center because they have some of the best reviews not to mention a good reputation. I met with my surgeon ,Dr. Michael Lee, He Asked me what I didn't like about my nose, so I told him that I didn't like the hump I have on the bridge and the wide nostril flare. Then I asked him what he thought would be best to do. So he pulled some pictures of my face on the big screen and did a virtual plastic surgery. He did the two things I didn't like and he also brought in the septum which balanced the nose out all together. I really liked what he did! So we talked some more about the procedure and what it would be like. I had to get off of birth control because you can't take anything that effects your blood or hormones 2 weeks pre/pro surgery as well. We scheduled my surgery date for the 12th of August which was today. I got there around 7am and the nurses got me situated. Dr. Michael lee came in to ask some questions and go back over what he was going to do again. He also checked my heart rate and things like that. He made me feel comfortable and relaxed. After, a nurse injected my iv with the anesthesia and I remember talking to her and my mom but I was out within a minute. When I woke up I didn't have any bruising under my eyes but my throat was sore from the breathing tube. I don't really remember that much after waking up. I remember thanking my doctor and the nurses and asking my mom for smoothie king lol. The nurse also fed me some Ice because he felt good on my throat. When it was time for me to go home I was still a little drowsy from the medicine so she helped get me dressed and took me to my mom in a wheel chair. I've been laying around all day drinking lots of liquids. I'm not sure how long my nose will take to heal up but I'm taking vitamin C and hopefully that will speed up the healing process! Rhinoplasty is such a great procedure. I'm so glad I made this decision to get it done. It's not scary or painful. You don't feel a thing! So if you think rhinoplasty is for you set up a consultation with your local plastic surgeon! I'll continue to post pictures week by week to show you his the healing process!

I eventually did have some slight bruising under my eyes which I assumed would eventually happen. I've been doing a lot of icing and relaxing like I was told and today I'm feeling a lot more energized and I can tell the bruising is going away. I'm sooooo excited to see what it looks like when I get my cast, splints and stitches removed Thursday!
