I had a great experience at Shapiro Medical Group....

I had a great experience at Shapiro Medical Group. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Joe, he was great at describing the procedure and answering all the questions I had. He also did a great job working with me to draw out my new hairline. I am on day 3 of my post op and so far it's really been pain free, mainly just tired. Excited for my scabs to come off and the new hair to start coming through.

I'd love to know how you're doing now? How is the healing process? Is it easy to hide? Do you feel self conscious about it all the time? Was it emotionally taxing?
September 20, 2017
I'm doing great! Healing is good, still a little scabby in the donor area. The hair is starting to fall out (part of the process) it's super easy to hide. It always has been, my hair falls in the area. It only shows if I have my hair up. So no I'm never self conscious about it I show everyone who asks about it in person. Not emotionally taxing at all!

Thank you so so so much for posting and replying! It has been so hard to find cases that are like mine (there is a lot of info out there for balding men, almost nothing for women and zilch for women who are correcting a hairline). So I really appreciate you posting your story! It means a lot. I hope that you continue to post updates and keep us informed with your progress. Did you experience any shock loss to your natural hair in the area of the transplant? How many grafts did you have transplanted?
September 20, 2017
Yes of course! I also looked on her for transplanted hair before my procedure and couldn't find much so I'm happy to share! I didn't have any shock loss in the recipient area but I had a tiny shock loss in the donor area. (I think) I was brushing my hair and a tiny chunk came out probably 40 hairs it was like the size of half an eraser on a pencil. I'm not sure if it was shock loss or it got buzzed and didn't come off until I brushed my hair. Pretty sure it was shock loss but not noticeable at all. I had 1762 grafts transplanted!

Would you be willing to post some pictures of your hairline now?
September 22, 2017
It's falling out so it basically looks the same to start with. I can post some in the next few days it's a little late where I live now to take any

It’s falling out? You mean it hasn’t worked? :(
March 4, 2018
That’s part of the process! All the transplanted hair should fall out but the root is still implanted

Hair transplant at Shapiro Medical Group

(Only before Pictures) Highly recommend Shapiro Medical Group. They have the sweetest staff. To the man at the front desk, the consultant, nurses and doctors. Dr. Josephitis did my procedure and the nurses. They were constantly making sure I was doing okay. They even crushed my pills because I have a hard time swallowing large ones. Dr. Josephitis was great at describing the procedure, answering questions and making sure I got exactly what I wanted. Not only did they do everything they could to make me feel comfortable but my mom came with me and they gave her a room to watch movies, brought her blankets, coffee and lunch. Can not say enough how great this doctor is and the place itself.

Your new hairline looks great! Has your donor area healed? I read that hair back there grows back easily; did they say that hair will regrow back there, or is it just going to heal as a thin scar that will be camouflaged by surrounding hair? I see that pre op your hair was lightened. Do they warm against bleach or hair dye on the new growth area -- even after time? Please post more update pics, I'm excited to see how you are progressing!

Thanks! My donor area has healed. There will be a thin scar there but you won't be able to see it. My hair isn't lightened. Haven't dyed it in years lol! The transplanted hair is currently starting the process where it falls out and should start growing back in 3-4 months

I don't understand why my dr telling my hair transplant won't work for women?
September 21, 2017
That's odd.. women are not different from men? Both humans both have hair?
August 3, 2019
My doctor said the same

Little over a month post op

Just an update for the people who keep asking. It's been a month and a week since surgery. The hair has been falling out the last 2 weeks, like it should be doing. Still a little red. Hair should start growing 3-4 months after surgery so I have awhile til it starts popping back. Will update then.

Good luck to u. I wanted to have a surgery for the same kind of problem but I just don't know why they told me hair transplant is only for men??!!
September 24, 2017
That's so crazy... plenty of women have had hair transplant surgery!
September 24, 2017
Wow it looks really good! Thank you for sharing - your story is so helpful! Ive finally scheduled my day because your pictures have made me feel so much more comfortable! Still really nervous....but excited!
September 24, 2017
Awh that's great to hear! Are you going to be posting your pictures when you get it down? I'd love to check it out!! Don't be nervous! It was actually a pretty fun experience in my opinion! ALSO GREAT TIP- buy an airplain pillow and put it on top of your regular pillow! Keeps you elevated and your head foreword so you don't sleep on your sides. I'm the biggest side sleeper and you don't want to mess up your grafts, so this savedddd me!
September 24, 2017
Thanks love! That's a great tip. I am DEFINITELY sharing my experience because seeing other women's experiences and getting to ask them questions has been so helpful to me and there aren't that many out there. I can't wait - im excited!
September 24, 2017
Awesome, looking forward to it! When is your surgery??
October 30, 2017
