Hi everybody have been reading all of your information and I am ready to post. I am 63 years old,
5'5, 138 lbs and a 34G. I have debated BR for years...mostly terrified of the anesthesia and also got the run around on getting it approved and paid for. I have had literally decades of thoracic back pain, neck pain, and poor posture. I have had epidural spinal injections, radio frequency procedures and sometimes use a medical TENS unit. Cant take the back pain anymore and I am tired of only being able to work out for 15 minutes before my back starts to kill me. I am finally finally scheduled for my BR surgery on 7/17/17. It will be paid for except for my deductible. Thats got to be a lucky date right? All of my bloodwork came back just fine and my mammogram was normal. Now I just need to manage my emotions as it gets closer. I am taking off 2 1/2 -3 weeks from work for this. Thank you all for sharing your stories and for helping me have the courage to proceed with this. I am pretty sure I am going to cry over not finding a way to have this done sooner. Blessings

Wow!! Your comment that you're going to cry over. It doing it sooner really touched me. I'm 48 and have had big boobs for as long as I can remember. I wanted to get a BR surgery younger but I wanted to breastfeed my kids (which I did!), was told the insurance probably wouldn't pay for it, if I would just lose weight they would get smaller, etc. So I finally got up the courage and got sick of all the back and neck pain to go for it. I went to my pcp, ob gyn, physical therapy and plastic surgeon and submitted everything to my insurance and they approved it in about 2 weeks!! I have surgery in 2 days, July 7!!! So excited and nervous at the same time. I wish you all the best for your surgery coming up!!!

Been meaning to post an update... had my BR surgery on 7/17..I am now 16 days post-op! Recovery has gone much better than I anticipated. I only used pain meds for 24 hrs after surgery and then switched directly over to Tylenol! No kidding the pain was more like when your milk comes in as a nursing mother...not at all excruciating! One of the best parts is that my surgeon did not have to use drains!! I was elated because i was dreading that and wondering how my husband was going to deal with that ... he would have done it but im glad we didnt have to face that. I couldnt do anything but sponge bathe the first 3 days till the massive ace bandages and gauze were removed at my first post op. This is the good part. My breasts look like the breasts of a 20 year old no joke! My surgeon did such a beautiful job i cried... right there in the office I cried. I look so much better and my back already hurts way less. I am now about a C cup. So very grateful I could have this done. Some minor healing probs like scabbing but apparently nothing to worry about sent pics to my surgeon. Another post op appt today then returning to work tomorrow. The limitations we have to live with are def the most difficult aspect of this surgery...no lifting anything over 5 lbs, no raising your arms over your head, no bending at the waist, no vigorous exercise just walking etc. I am including a clothed before and after although keep in mind i am in a compression bra in the after . thank you all for your support and I wish you the very best.
