I am 47 years old, 5'3" tall and weigh 117lbs. I have four children. I hit 197 lbs during my last pregnancy at age 40. I had to have a C-section with my last child so I had my tubes removed while they already had me open. There are 16 years between my oldest child and my youngest child. So even when I lost 80 lbs, I still couldn't get a flat tummy no matter how much I worked-out! And the worst part about loosing that much weight was that my boobs looked like two empty sacks!!!! Needless to say, I NEEDED a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation.
I finally did it yesterday and I can't wait to take off the bandages and see the final results!!!????
I have always had small breasts, but at least they were perky. So I decided not to go for huge breasts. Also, I'm a runner and I didn't want big 'ol boobs getting in the way! Lol. I just wanted enough "filling" to fill what I already had. I went with a natural profile silicon gel implant. My doctor didn't think a slippery saline implant would stay in place considering how loose my skin was. They were placed under the muscle under the breast. That way there are no "visible" scars.
The hardest part of this surgery was finding someone who could take care of me durning the first 5 days post-op. The tummy tuck makes you bend over for a few days and I can't lift or pull or reach for anything. Also, I have two drainage tubes that need to be "milked" 4 times a day!
I'm on day one post-op and I'm already starting to feel better than I did yesterday.
Having two surgeries in one shot, I have to be very careful not to hurt myself doing simple things like going to the bathroom! Lol. So, my boyfriend's mother loaned me a shower seat and a raised toilet seat. Also, my boyfriend's bed is two single beds that separately go up and down at the head and the feet like a hospital bed. These extra tools are invaluable right now!!! I will post more picks after I get my bandages off.
Look out summer, I'm ready for you this year! Bring on bikini season!!! ????

I'm glad this was helpful to you! This is a difficult thing to go through alone. Unfortunately, I for one would be going through this alone if I didn't have this site. PS is still unacceptable in a lot of circles.

Day one post op

Can't stand up straight, but that's typical for a tummy tuck. I am a little nervous about taking off my dressings to shower. My doc said I can take a shower after 48 hours, but I have read some other reviews online and I think I will do the sponge bath thing instead and just wash my hair with the detachable shower head.

My first shower was on day 11 after my drain came out - you may not want to wait that long but it's best to take the shower when you feel confident and have someone to be there with you. You look great though bandaged up. Rest a lot and happy healing :)))

Thanks! Did you change the ABD pads every day even though you weren't taking a full shower? How did you clean the scar areas?

I used regular pads for the first 5 days or so only because I was uncomfortable with my cg over my scar. I didn't clean my incisions at all until I started taking my shower on day 11. My tt incision was pretty closed and not leaking anything. On day 11, I started just washing and air drying. After i was cleared for scar treatment, I started using alcohol pads to wipe before applying BioCorneum 2x per day.

I still have to remind myself to stand up straight and I am almost 4 weeks post op :) I was able to showered after 24 hours, however, I had steri strips on and no drains. Good idea to have somebody there with you as you may be unsteady. One day at a time :)

Hahaha. I hope I'm standing up straight sometime this week or I might need a back doctor!!! I saw your pics and you look great!!! Thanks for the advice :)

Day Three

OMG! I can't believe how good I look already!!! I decided to brave my first shower today and got my first look without the surgical pads. I love what I see so far!!!
There was a little blood on the towel from my bellybutton, but I don't think it warrents a call to the doc on a Sunday. I will wait until tomorrow and talk to the nurse during normal business hours.
The gaze strips are stuck to the scars and I didn't want to risk pulling at the incisions by pulling them off. I will aske her if I'm supposed to take them off every time I take a shower it not. I just pattied them dry and put a premeditated strip over them for now.
There is a dimple to the right of my bellybutton (it almost looks like a second bellybutton! Lol). I think it is a previous scar from a past hernia surgery. I will ask her about that too.
Overall, I am thrilled with the results so far! I love my perky breasts! They are not too big and they look totally natural!!! Yay!!!

Looking fabulous at only 3 days post - woohoo!!! What did the doc say about hernia scar? Glad healing is smooth :)))
January 27, 2015
I talked to the nurse. She said that wasn't the hernia scar. She said that was normal because she puts stitches in different places in the abdomin area like a quilt and that it was normal.
