Tmi warning - gross pictures
For some reason the photo app wants to turn them all upside down! Lol.

Hmm, now they are oriented correctly- the belly button is above the incision.
Wow, I pray your incision heals well and you are on the road to recovery. The antibiotics should help. Now don't forget your yogurt.
Looks like there's some filling in to be done. That actually happened pretty quickly for me with the wound vac, it was the skin closing together that seemed to take forever. But some doctors will stitch their patients up. Glad your doctor is keeping a close eye on this. Has he said what caused this? It doesn't look like necrosis of the skin. Maybe fatty necrosis or was it from the hematoma?
CaliKat....my surgeons didn't reclose or restitch me up because they said at that point they had to removed dead tissue and abate the wound...so they are not able to close back up after that. I wish they could have...but that was the reason I was given. (i think I am using the correct word. I will have to go back and look at my posts. LOL)
yes, this is just 25 days PO- I feel honored to get a reply from you, just saw you on "Botched" the other day- you were great! I know your journey is not over but it looks like it has turned around and is only getting better.
The PS has been pretty mum on what caused this- he has said being a gastric bypass patient with long term nutritional deficiencies might be a cause- BUT the very complicated breast Implant surgery he did on me a year ago went off perfectly so this was very unexpected.
Yah, I'm not quite sure why some stitch it closed and some don't. The reasoning given to me was that they didn't want closing it to cause an infection. I was like, well I'm more than willing to go on antibiotics for that. lol But it wasn't happening. Eventually it closed on it's own.
You're so cute, honored to get a reply... makes me feel all famous! lol I know what you're going through and I know the rollercoaster ride so if I can help out in any way... I'm here! I'm thinking that I will probably always be trying to improve upon myself at least a little bit... it's just a matter of how important it is to me at that moment. lol I'm so glad that the breast surgery went well, gives me hope because at some point I'd like a reduction and lift but holy crap are my husband and I scared of necrosis of the nipple. EEEeeeeekkkkk! The vac really does help speed up the process. Also, eat high protein. I set my protein on myfitnesspal to 120 g a day when healing from surgery.
My incisions were under the fold so nipple necrosis was never an issue. I've noticed Dr. Dubrow always seems to go in around the aureole, not the fold or underarm. That's where my previous incision was, the fold, and I opted against a lift which worked well for me. I have NO breast tissue. We used 350 cc low profile silicone implants.
Adding extra protein shakes too. Got word today that I had two bacterial cultured, including MRSA, but the oral antibiotics are working, and the wound is shrinking. I am not a candidate for a wound VAC apparently because I am on anticoagulation therapy for six months thanks to the pulmonary embolism! Figures. But my PS is head of the wound care center at the hospital so I'm getting excellent care.m
if you are cleaning out and changing dressings a couple times a day you will be surprised how quickly it still heals up. I think the wound vac is good for getting the large wounds started...but I think I did close up faster once the wound vac was removed. Glad you got your cultures back and getting treated. One day you will look back and this will have been worth it.
I would definitely need a lift! Lol
How have you been? How is the healing coming along?

4 inch open wound- my kangaroo pus pocket
So I now have a 4 inch section of the ab wound that is now open. I have to flush it twice a day with a Dakins solution, put some Norml jelly in it, pack it with gauze and cover it up. Taking Clindamycin 4 times a day, and seeing the PS on Friday again. No projection on how this is gonna close or what it will look like. Right now its the grossest thing I've seen in my life.

Hang in there {{{HUGS}}} hopefully it will resolve quickly and with minimal damage to your final results. KUP!
Hang in there! It will get better. It is a long journey..but you will get better. My original surgery was Sept 10th. I am almost fully closed up at this point...but still have issues with one small spot. (about 1/2 wide) that keeps opening up. I am horribly swollen about my incision still and it will be addressed in Oct if a revision is needed. Stay positive....use your vallium as needed and do deep breathing (if the spasms let you) to get through the bad ones. Take care.
Ask about a wound vac it closed a big hole in my TT
Apparently not a candidate because I am on anticoagulation therapy due to my pulmonary embolism!
