Hey was wondering if you feel like you constantly had a cold after your surgery, my nose is irritating me from inside, my throat is constantly dry and i feel like i have a cold all the time, did u experience this,
Yes my nose felt raw and stuffed for a good 3 weeks. I didn’t have dry throat. The scabs inside will be extremely annoying and for me it took 6-7 weeks to fall off. Do you have allergies? Did you try an allergy pill for sinuses?
Oh okayy, does ur tip still feel hard as a rock? I never had allergies before so its weird and i tried one pill it didnt help much not sure
Yes it is and my columella is stiff still. The right side is still swollen too but it’s slowly going down. It’s been 3 months now.
Wow it takea long eh guess i should look at it until i hit like 6 months lol did he end up giving u a shot
This healing takes forever!! No shot yet. Maybe in August if I feel swelling is still there.

Did you suffer from asymmetrical nostrils post operation ?
A few weeks ago I found them to be different. Now 7 weeks post-op they are the same. Someone told me their nostrils took 9 months to be symmetrical so I feel lucky!
Hey sorry to bother anyone know if its normal to have a swollen uvula post op, its been a few days and its really bothering me! It sits on my tongue! It appears longer than usual and i thinknits from the intubation but it hasnt gotten better:( my throat isnt sore but the uvula is !
Maybe they scrapped it with the tube? I found my sore throat from the tube was the worst part of it all. I bought sore throat spray to try and numb it. How is everything otherwise?
Im going to buy that now! Ure right I think they scrapped it it got worse today so painful! Everything is good pain is minimal and brusing has gone down. I know its a process so gotta be patient.. how are u liking your results?
My left side is defined but I still have lots of swelling in right side. Dr Rival said if it doesn’t go down in 2 more months he will suggest a cortisone shot. It’s only been 8 weeks so I’m hopeful I won’t need one! I love my nose! It’s so straight and cute. It suits my face.
Thats good that you love it , i just got my cast off and i love the front its very swollem but i like it but i dont know why i dont like the profile much because from the foreead to the nose it seems too flat, does that change after?
Oh that’s exciting! My forehead to nose didn’t change much. However, I didn’t like the space between base of nose to my lip line. It seemed too long. My nose dropped so it’s not as bad and I did do a bit of filler in my lips. It took me awhile to get used to the change. I freaked out a bit for the first month.
I didnt even notice it when i looked at your pics, honestly ur nose looks really good and I know what u mean though about freaking out cause its the most thing that changes the whole face and its a process so it makes you so anxious!! I swear lately all ive been noticing is peoples noses lmaoo. Eventually when we heal completely well be over this stage.
It definitely is a process and your just getting started! Can not wait for the one year mark or a least for the right side of my nose to settle!!
Its weird how one side is always more swollen, also try fish oil, nuts and fruits like strawberries/berries all of those have anti inflammatory effects to help fight of swelling, hopefully you wont need that shot but if u do at least it would help
Thanks! I will look into fish oil and I eat so many berries and nuts but I’m sure salt doesn’t help.

Septorhinoplasty w/ Dr Rival

I had my septorhinoplasty with turbinite reduction with Dr Rival on March 29th 2019. From arranging a consultation to surgery date with Shannon was seamless. She is very responsive via email which my preferred method of communication. Dr Rival and I were on the same page with realistic expectations. My main concern was my breathing. My deviated septum and turbinites made sleeping very broken and I could not go anywhere without Kleenex. I also needed to left my left nostril so a spreader graph was also discussed and agreed to.
Surgery day was quite fast. Arrived at 8am and out by 1:30pm. Perfect! Just wanted to be home and start my recovery. Had a chat with Dr Rival prior to go over everything. His surgical staff were pleasant as well. After surgery I felt zero pain. Over the next few days I was bruised and swollen but pain was minimal. Sleeping was uncomfortable and I stayed couch bound for 5 days.
The following Friday I had my cast removed and boy was I nervous and Francesca was very sweet and comforting while removing the cast. I was a mix of emotions. The cast came off and I was beyond thrilled with my new nose! It was swollen of course but it was smaller, straight and cute! I could not believe how straight it was. I had a consult with another Dr. that said my nose could never be straight. So I was super happy with my new nose!
I am now 10 days post op and look forward to the swelling going down as days go on.
All in all, I would choose Dr Rival and his amazing staff in a heartbeat. You will not regret it!

I'm happy to hear healing is going so well. Is the pain totally gone at this point now?
The pain was about a 2 all the way through till Day 5. My nose feels sore still. It feels like I got hit in the nose! But all worth it!
Your nose looks great! I have my surgery coming up with Dr Rival so seeing posts like this makes me so excited for mine!
Hi, I have my surgery may 21 and I'm so nervous cause I keep seeing posts about people saying its top wide frok the fron after his surgeries, do u feel that way about yours? And also can u post more pics once the swelling goes down if you want please
Yes, I was scared when I seen my pics of me on table. But I was swollen of course! You will not like your nose at first but it changes everyday. I am 14 day post op today. It’s a process but I like what I see so far!
Ok awesome I'm going to keep looking for updates, I can tell it's very swollen but I'm picturing it without being swollen and i can tell its gunna look great!
Awe thanks! I’m still in shock over the change lol
Hey!! I have a consult coming up as well, and I’ve also been referred due to functional issues (deviation and turbinates.) Was any of the cost covered by OHIP for you?
It was covered but you won’t see a discount on the bill. Rival charges 8K. I went to 3 doctors and they note it on quote to be done but do not list the charge. Other doctors were 12K. I did really like Dr Oakley Smith as well and paid $300 for his consult.
