do not recommend!
I had an absolutely abysmal experience with this surgeon for a breathing issue and cannot recommend him. The communication and patient care were entirely unacceptable from the start. A day before my surgery, the doctor refused to listen to what I actually wanted. When I asked what my nose would look like from the front as I needed my nasal valves repaired after an accident that caused breathing issues, he literally laughed at me and only explained the side profile. Because it was less than 16 hours before my procedure, I felt immense pressure and wrongly assumed this dismissive behavior was normal. They also handed me a massive legal consent form at the very last minute to hide behind. They ultimately did whatever they wanted to my face without properly informing me.
The aftercare was nonexistent, dangerous, and nearly fatal. The hospital failed to provide the correct dosage schedule, causing me to take too much. Furthermore, I went in for a nasal valve repair to fix a breathing issue, but I came out with a severe bladder issue caused by the procedure, which they left completely untreated for eight days. When it was time for me to fly home, they failed to give me instructions on how to equalize my ears on the plane, resulting in an entirely new sinus injury.
As an overseas patient, the situation became even worse. You rarely see the doctor after surgery; you are forced to deal only with the head nurse, who repeatedly minimizes serious complications by claiming everything is fine until it is too late. When I experienced issues abroad, the doctor took zero responsibility. He told me to see local doctors, but when I complained about the massive financial burden of doing so, he told me I signed a consent form and had to fly back to Cape Town because he could not help over the phone. When I pushed back on these costs, he immediately shielded himself behind his lawyers rather than helping me. Offering to see me in Cape Town, who wants to see a surgeon who has done all these things and gotten lawyers involved?????
On top of this, the administrative side is incredibly unprofessional. The secretary frequently seems lost, and it took over nine months of asking just to receive my medical notes for continuity of care after complications. I also had to wait more than a year just to get my on-table results. To finish it off, the head nurses attitude was remarkably rude. During an appointment where I was on time, she falsely claimed I was late and spoke to me in a highly disrespectful tone when I mentioned I was accompanied by my brother, whom I hadn't seen in five years.
This practice lacks empathy, accountability, and basic medical ethics. If you have a complication, you will be ignored, blamed, or threatened with legal counsel. Avoid this surgeon at all costs. I will post photo's when I can bring myself to do so. I reserve my rights without prejudice. Tanja Cerff(Buys)
