Perforated Septum Repair

WORTH IT
Dr. Mehta and his team are the best in the industry for repairing a perforated septum. I had a botched deviated septum surgery a few years back that left my with a hole in my septum. My nose was visibly changing over time and I was worried about the nose caving in and the breathing issues I had. The hole was also growing over time. I went and saw Dr. Mehta for a consultation and he immediately knew he could fix it. My hole was about 2cm and if it grew any larger, it would be hard to repair so I made the decision to do the surgery right away. He uses a modern technique where he uses some temporal fascia and a PDS plate to reconstruct the nose. While he was fixing the hole, he also went and did a revision on the deviated septum from the last surgery.

I was nervous about the whole process and surgery but he made me comfortable the entire time. He answered every question and gave me specific details on how he would fix it.

The surgery itself was a bit long as you have to extract tissue from your head first. There is barely a scar where he took the tissue from. I have seen no day to day change in how I feel. No pain or anything weird. When you rub the spot where the tissue is extracted, it can be a bit sore for a few months.

After the surgery, the first week is pretty tough just like any septoplasty. The breathing is the worst part. But because he did a closed nose procedure, the healing was quite fast. The worst part of the whole process is the anxiety of everything. He did regular check ups and made sure to give me reassurance that it's healing properly. The best thing to do it leave it alone. I used saline mist constantly to clean it out. Don't put anything up your nose and don't blow it for at least a month. I had congestion for about 3 months but it completely clears up after. And the swelling was minimal for me. Don't worry, everything will go back to normal in about 3-4 months. It's a must faster recovery than a normal nose job.

If you have a hole in your septum, consider Dr. Mehta. I did weeks of research before and found that his technique is the best. I would do the surgery 10/10 times if I had to do it all over. My breathing is much better. I don't have post nasal drip anymore. The structure of my nose is stronger than before.
