5 months post procedure

Very pleased with final result with just some light working out

I am probably representative of a lot of 42 yr old males that have been fit, worked out previously but out of shape generally, although not fat or obese.

I did a huge amount of research into Liposuction procedures over many years, I had a consultation back 15 years ago and they said I didn't need it done - now I did!!

If I am being really honest the reason I felt it wasn't an option for me was the pain involved, I even came very close to booking traditional liposuction at a large private medical chain purely based on the general anaesthesia.

I had been a regular patient at the Selston Cosmetic Clinic for a few years for a bit of Botox etc but became increasingly interested in Vaser Hi Def and the thought of having a real kick start to an athletic shape and healthier lifestyle.

So, back to the pain element, I explained to Dr Bassi that I was extremely concerned about this and he assured me that the 20mg of Diazapam would make me feel relaxed and that it was nothing to worry about. When I eventually booked the procedure, the Nurse in clinic Mags mentioned that some patients had an injection of Midazolam too and this seemed to help. So I was booked in initially for just the lower abdomen and flanks.

Day of Procedure:

After completing the paperwork etc I was given the Diazapam, marked up and then given the shot of Midazalom. Now this would be my biggest tip to anyone considering the procedure. Midazalom not only relaxes you but has a habit of ensuring you don't remember the procedure, it's used commonly before Gastroscopy's etc when a degree of discomfort not pain will be felt. I remember vaguely getting off the operation table and being impressed at a flatter tummy but little else which was a real bonus!!

This quickly got me thinking, why don't I just finish it off and go back for Hi Def on the rest of my abdomen as I genuinely had no pain - this was promptly booked for a couple of weeks after.

Post Flanks Recovery.

Well yes I was a little sore, nothing I couldn't live with, just difficult getting up from the sofa etc. the first night you do leak an awful lot of fluid but this dissipates over the next 24 hours.

The compression garments are without a doubt for me, the worst thing about the procedure, with the foam padding and the garment, there was no way of getting into a suit for work so this needs to be considered very carefully before you have the procedure done. I was unfortunate to get a slight infection on one of the incision sights but Dr Bassi explained what to do and I was given additional anti biotics, I think it was the seam of the garment rubbing on that particular spot.

Aftercare:

I thought this bit would be dreadful but Mags the nurse is great, makes you feel comfortable and easy to talk to, the bottom line is there is tenderness and soreness in certain spots but after a session with Mags it looks so much better. It really is a case if no pain no gain. I did purchase a £40 Ultrasound machine which I religiously use everyday on top of the sessions with Mags.

Abdomen Procedure:

This was a breeze as I knew what to expect and it only took an hour I think, the trusted Midazolam came in handy again erasing any memories of the procedure. Interestingly I had virtually no leakage at all post this procedure and it wasn't as tender as the flanks post op either. I think I was quite lucky, I really hardly bruised at all and I had the 2nd procedure done on the Sunday, I went to work the next day no trouble at all.

When I went back for my aftercare with Mags, Dr Bassi popped in and said it was looking good, however, he thought that a minor touch up would make the finished result even better, just one more line of fat taken out over one set of Abs. I thought this to be a nice touch, Dr Bassi was so into getting the best result that he wanted to go back for more, this was free a charge and goes back to my original point of this is if course surgery but artistry too. This was all completed in 10 mins and I didn't even need the extra Midazalom for this he he.

Overall if you do your research, you can see that you do have options in terms of geography and the result you wish to achieve. I am well aware that the same procedure in London would have been double but this was a village in Nottinghamshire. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's a regular sort of GP practice that the procedure is carried out in. Yes it's not decorated in minimalist white with glossy floors and everyone dressed in crisp white cotton but the premises are that of an everyday GP surgery. Look past this and you will realise that the combination of Dr Bassi's experience in this area and high degree of both professionalism and desire to get the right result, together with Mags the Nurse, you will be hard pressed to find a better overall patient experience.

I will post some pics other than the ones I have posted but I'm only 10 days post op on the Abdomen and 4 weeks on the lower tummy and flanks and the finished result is yet to come.

The cost of the garments, silicone gel sheets for scars, petrol to the clinic and the aftercare itself soon mount up and be prepared for the awful garments you have to wear for 8 weeks. The alternative would be hours and hours in the gym which I personally wouldn't find practical.

Hats off to Selston for providing a clever balance of value and care without compromising on any of the results.

Very professional, knowledgable and importantly, artistic which I think important in a Hi Def procedure.
