I've had pretty chunky legs since being a teenager, (I'm now 32) but am not overweight - just to put my shape into perspective I have a 26 inch waist but prior to surgery hips were 40 inches an I'm only 5ft 1in - totally out of proportion. I decided if I didn't do something now it would likely only get worse so started looking at options and decided on vaser liposuction.

After quite a lot of interweb research I booked a free consultation with Dr Bassi in Nottingham and I really appreciated his honesty and explanation of what could be achieved. I've got quite a heavy bottom and he was concerned that removing fat directly at top of thigh (underneath bottom) would make my bottom sag which I definitely did not want. He made sure that my expectations were realistic - he only does 2 areas at a time and I wanted 3 so I had two surgeries, 3 weeks apart. The first was inner thighs and sides of knees and second was outer thighs. Total cost for both was £4500. Afterwards you have to get MLD massage which costs between £40-70 session - I had 14 sessions in total which added to cost an I also bought an ultrasound massager to use at home.

I must admit I'm glad I had two surgeries - you have to wear compression afterwards with foam and if I'd wore that for inner and outer thighs at same time I would have looked spherical, lol. It really was challenging at times to go to work with all the compression on - I'm a UK size 10 even before surgery (I'm very petite) so my clothes don't leave tons of room and I had to buy some bigger clothes to temporarily accommodate the transition (and foam). Still, it's a small price to pay.

I've had follow up appointments with Dr Bassi and everything seems to be healing fine. I followed the aftercare instructions to the letter.

In terms of pain, there was some slight pain during the surgery especially at the beginning when getting the anesthetic - but once that had kicked in, it was fine. There was virtually no pain after first surgery - inner thighs & knees healed like a dream - my MLD massage therapists were amazing and were impressed with results. Different story with outer thighs - quite a lot of pain, even now 9 weeks later - they still are very sensitive and hurt sometimes. Dr Bassi did tell me it would be at least 3 months before it stopped feeling like I' ha an operation so I guess it is to be expected. Both my ML therapists have wondered whether I have lipodema and one of them told me it is common for lipodema sufferers to have more pain and sensitivity on outer thigh than normal, so that may explain the pain after the second procedure.

I had 7 ML massage sessions after each surgery which is pretty expensive but quite enjoyable - the MLD does not hurt at all. My therapists used deep oscillation therapy at the same time and it feels great afterwards.

Overall, I'm pleased with my results so far - I don't know if there will be any more improvement but I got what I wanted, smaller legs with better shape. I didn't expect miracles with how bad my legs were before but I feel a great improvement.

Dr Bassi and Mags are really friendly and put you at ease while it is all happening. Dr Bassi explained everything and made sure I understood what to do before and after the surgeries - the results on his blog speak for themselves (just google Selston cosmetic clinic).
