Preparing for Gastric Bypass Surgery.. So I Can "Slay" my Life! HAHA! - Seattle, WA

ORIGINAL POST

Soooooooooooooo, I'm considering Gastric Bypass...

Soooooooooooooo, I'm considering Gastric Bypass.

Here's why:
I've considered getting the surgery for a long time. Initially I was interested in the Lap Band until I heard horror stories about how they behave, and most people who get the band decide on revision to the sleeve or bypass. I'm not interested in the sleeve because I prefer Gold Standard for this type of surgery.. And I wanna lose this s**t FORREAL.. with no doubt that I picked the right surgery for me.

Most people who've I mentioned it to can't wrap their mind around why I would consider doing something this jurassic,.. There's a couple of folks that say " Girl you are not big enough, you are cute just the way you are,.." -_- Well,I aint tryna get big in the first place. lol All I know is that I'm tired of Yo-Yoing. I'm over it and ready to be happy.. I love clothes, makeup, the whole nine and I would like to just be happy inside and out.. just be healthy as hell.

I began my journey August 2nd, 2016. Molina (Apple Health) is my managed care provider. They have requirements to get you prepared for your lifestyle change, and will give you 6 months to do it. I was nerve wrecked but it was actually no sweat. I had a BMI of 47.6 and Pre-Diabetes. THAT'S ALL..and qualified for Stage II. :) I was approved Aug. 9!

I am doing all my appointments back to back, so I do a total of three appts. a week. Molina req. "the 3 12's" . (12 NUT 12 PT 12 Mental Health visits.) My goal is to finish all appointments within 4.5 months. I'm on visit number 10 in all 3. They also require a 5% loss in a 6 month period of time.

I will be having surgery @ University of Washington. I met the PA-C on 11/17, met the Social Worker 12/06, Had my Upper Endoscopy 12/12 and meeting the Dietician 12/19. I was told the schedule is pretty tight and far out, but I have been pretty lucky to get all my appointments in one month!!!

People: Be proactive!!!!! Don't just sit around and burn unnecessary time. Make calls, hand carry, WHATEVER. Do whatever you can to make sure things move along because these people who are handling our case have many people to juggle.. so get in there and find out if there's ANYTHING you can do to move the process along! :)

I'm still working on my 5% loss so I'll come back when I have a new update. I'm happy that my opportunity is finally here after 5 years. Hopefully this is my season... anyways, introducing myself..

.. nice to meet everyone!!!!! HEYYYYYYYYY.. ;) <3

You've done wonderfully well within a short period of time. The tough goals you've set pre-surgery, and are well on the way to achieving, show that you can achieve what you want.
You have the determination to be the weight, the BMI, the looks you want. Keep going.
I wish you well on continuing to meet your targets because this is all about your happiness.
