Just talked to the nurse and anaesthesiologist...

Just talked to the nurse and anaesthesiologist that will be assisting during my surgery. It's feeling REAL now! I know I should be excited but I'm quite scared. I think a part of it is that I don't have a support network. I'm 2500 miles away from my family (the only one who understands is my twin sister) and my husband supports my decision to get it done but really doesn't get it. He thinks i should just be used to carrying 36G breasts around. He will also not be very helpful when it comes to recovery time.....he won't clean or help me wash my hair or anything like that. It's really started to make me sad that the person I should be able to rely on the most is just acting like I should be fine in a week or so. Sigh. Sorry this is so depressing sounding but I just needed to vent some.

Awww sorry you feel that way, have him read some posts on here and maybe he can get a feel for how long you will actually be recovering. Maybe after the surgery he will see how much help you will actually need and he will step it up! Good luck with everything!

Thanks for the advice but my husband won't read any reviews on here. He's kind of a hard core john wayne type of man. Anyway, I will deal with it the best I can and won't push myself too much.

You can vent to us anytime.  You are going to do fine so just take it one day at a time.  Being nervous is all a part of the pre op but these feeling will ease.

After surgery stay on top of your pain meds and just rest for the first week.

You will be able to clean yourself up after surgery so don't worry about that.  Pick up some baby wipes and dry shampoo.  This will get you through the first few days.  Giving yourself a little sponge bath the first few days will feel good.

We are all here to support you so check in often and keep us up to date.

surgery tomorrow!!!!

Well, my surgery is tomorrow....I'm very nervous!!! My question is how long after surgery (if all goes well) can I travel (driving) a long distance (2500 miles)? I MUST do the trip.....no way to postpone it or cancel it. Thanks in advance and please pray for me for an "easy" surgery and recovery!

Hello michlm71, I wanted to wish you God speed and good luck! I'm scheduled for the 6th, this coming Monday, right behind you, so I understand your fears. Just take care that everything is all ready for you to reach and find and then stay put and treat yourself good and just relax and rest the first few days away. I'm sure things will work out and just think of the benefits ahead! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you. Please let us hear from you and we'll work out the details together. Hugs and prayers...

Ohi mich, I'm doing well , 1st day down. I went for post op today and my breasts look great, not so for my nipples, he sent me home with a prescription for nitroglycerin cream every 8 hours? This is suppose to speed healing. I sure hope it works though, I'm not upset and know that I'll have a good outcome. Glad you're feeling amazing! Sleep well...

3 days post op now and I'm healing well. I was actually afraid to look at my boobs!! Of course i did look and yes, i am all bruised and a little puffy looking. I am still in shock that these are my new boobs! They are literally half the size they used to be! I can see my feet when I'm standing up! The pain isn't bad at all as I am keeping to the advice my PS gave me. I had surgery on my knee decades ago which was way more painful than this. Now it's the waiting game, waiting to heal up, waiting to get stitches out, etc. I noticed the difference in my neck as the pain is virtually gone from there!!! So far so good for me and I hope everyone who has this surgery does well also! God bless!!
