Surgery Tomorrow and Nervous!

I had my breast reduction done on August 6. I was really nervous about going under the anesthesia, but everything went very well! Because the surgery is not involving internal organs etc., they don't have to put you under real deep. I was told to come in at 12:45, and my surgery was scheduled for 2:45 and was scheduled for four hours. I live over 30 miles from the hospital so left early and got there around 11:45. Because my Dr's first surgery went over, I didn't get called in until around 3:30. At that point everything went fast to get me into surgery. I have small veins, so getting the IV in was an ordeal. Because I have a CPAP for sleep apnea that was diagnosed in June, the Dr thought I might have to stay overnight (didn't end up having to stay) which we were not expecting. Once I went into the operating room I was pretty comfortable, she put a mask over my face and that's all i remember lol. The surgery lasted four hours and he removed 820 grams from right breastfeeding and 962 grams from left breast. For insurance to cover the surgery, I needed a minimum of 819 grams removed from each breast, according to my BSA. The photos I have attached are from about 2 days post op. My Dr thought I was a great candidate for a no vertical scar breast reduction, so I don't have the scar from the areola to the under breast incision. I expected the scarring of course, kinda cool that he was able to avoid the one that I heard can be problematic. Healing has been uneventful so far....he doesn't use drains so told us to expect a lot of drainage for a day or two. I asked for a C cup or as small as he could go, he told my husband that he got me a D cup, because if he were to go smaller I would have have healing issues as it would be more into the nerves. So far size looks great. They're still quite swollen but once that goes down they will be perfect I think. Everyone talks about the big tummy after surgery, mine looked huge! I understand that tummy can swell after surgery, plus this fact that boobs aren't covering anymore. I'm pretty sure this is one of the best decisions I've made in my life! I should have done it years ago! So good those of you on the fence about this surgery, and how scary it is, it really is worth it!

Surgery Tomorrow and Nervous!

Good morning all,
I am scheduled for my breast reduction tomorrow, and I'm really starting to get nervous! I've wanted this for many years. I'm currently in a 40 I bra which is actually tight on me :( The reason I'm so nervous is for one, I'm afraid of going under general anesthesia, and I also have sleep apnea which was diagnosed in June (but I'm sure I've had it for years). I am doing my CPAP therapy but I understand that anesthesia can be a little more difficult for someone with Sleep Apnea.....I am having my surgery done at the University of Washington so I'm sure things will be fine. Have any of you had this surgery with Sleep Apnea? Any info that will ease my mind would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck today. Keep me posted on how it goes! Are you staying overnight or coming home? Did they tell you to bring your CPAP? I’m coming home today. What size did you ask to be? Looking forward to recovering together!
As far as the Dr is concerned I will be going home today, but there's always the chance I could spend the night. In order for insurance to cover the surgery, according to my BSA, or body surface area, he had to remove at least 800 grams
My husband has sleep apnea and has has a few orthopedic surgeries and did great. They monitor your oxygen and breathing so you are very safe. Probably safer than at home! Just make use you use the CPAP when at home and sleeping after the anesthesia. He had to bring his with him just Incase he needed it in recovery but he never did.
Thanks! That makes me feel better! I am bringing my cpap with me in case I have to spend the night....
Hello Talan11a how much did it cost you without insurance? can you please let me know? many thanks
