I'll be getting a breast reduction/lift at the beginning of April. And I'm
Curious to hear from other moms who had surgery. Especially with young children. How did you and the kiddos adjust to the temporary changes. Meaning carrying your kids, picking up your kids, or even the snuggles they need every 5 minutes (that we love of course ). I have a 5 year old and a almost 2 year old and I'm sooo nervous about how they are gonna handle mommy being out of commission for a few weeks. How it will effect them with mommy going through this huge ordeal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for joining us on your journey.  You are going to feel like a new momma once this is done.   Kids seem to adjust very well to mom needing a little recovery time.  You will still be able to have your 2 year old crawl into your lap for snuggles.   Take a look at our Forums.  You will find great information and make connections with others here.

My surgery is may 2nd, and I have a 3 1/2 yr old and a 1 1/2 year old.. I'm nervous about how the younger one will do, too. She's a needy childy child already. Good luck to you!

Yes, I'll have my husband and mom to help too! We plan to put our recliner in our bedroom so as to hide my away - if they can't see me maybe they won't want me :D

I wish I had a recliner.:( but I have a comfy bed and a tv with cable and Netflix in my room so I'll be bunkering down there for a few days

Hi! I am about the same size as you measurement wise. Interested if insurance is covering any of the reduction?
Also, I had liposuction in multiple areas when my kids were 1 1/2 and 3. My husband was able to take care of the kids (they were in preschool in the mornings) and he would put them to bed at night. It made it easier those 1st two days for the kids to not see me at all. I would wait to get up and try to walk around after they went to bed or when they were at school. After the 2nd day I was much better and just said I didn't feel well and had to rest some. The more I did, the more swollen I would get so please make sure to get your rest!! I can't wait to see your results!! Good luck!!

I'm currently in a 34DD or 32DDD depending on the bra. I right now prefer my old nursing bra because it's the most comfy and doesn't make me appear bigger with padding. I'm 5'3 and weigh about 130. I'm currently trying to loose more weight before my surgery. I can't believe it's in less then a month. Soo nervous and excited.

I had my reduction and lift back in October with two young kids, 4 & 7. I had the same worries you did! As long as you have help, you can get through! I was tucking mine into bed & and snuggling close after a couple days. It's not as hard as you would imagine...just have to be careful. Good luck!!!

That's soo good to hear.! I think I'm just more worried about my youngest and if he wants to be held. If he really insists, could I just have him climb into my lap and have a pillow across my chest?

I totally understand. Two years old is still the age where they are wanting to be picked up and all over you. You just may have to get creative and make it game. I like the pillow idea! That'd be helpful. I'll say this. I remember the bandages and medical bra keeping me covered/wrapped up and pretty protected. That made me feel better about being bumped by my rambunctious boys!!

If I may ask, did your insurance pay? and what size are now? I'm currently a 34 DDD and want a reduction....

My insurance didn't no cover it. This was something my husband and I saved up for. I was a 34DD/ 32DDD before surgery. But I have no clue of my size now. I'm guessing a C/D but once swelling goes down I'll know more

I'm currently wondering the same thing about the kids . I'm having mine tomorrow . I have 3 littles. I I have thought my other 2 kids ages 4 and 6 how to help pick up my 1 year old. I'm hiring help and my husband is helping too but I'm still nervous about it . The baby always just wants mommy. But the way I look at it it is now or never . If I wait until he's 3 he still will need lifting and be even heavier and more insistent on mommy . At least he's little Enough to let other people take Him . My family is coming to visit too so that will be a distraction . I'll write more when I'm in it and any tips i may have. I can't believe it's tomorrow!!!

It's refreshing to know I'm not the only one going through this.! I have a 1 year old too and I worry about he's gonna handle this all. But hubby has two weeks off and my MIL is coming for a week :) so I'll have help the first couple weeks

When is your surgery? Mine was today. Relatively speaking I'm feeling ok. The pain meds make me so dizzy so I'm just taking Tylenol . I'm happier already!!! Happy mommy =happy kids
