I have always been a 32A except when pregnant or nursing. After nursing 3 children I had lost the top volume of my breasts and they were even smaller than before:( I was so self consious that it impacted my clothing choices and love life. I'm a small person...5'4" 113 and on our last vacation I didn't even pack a bathing suit b/c there was no hiding my barely there boobs in any suit I had tried. After doing lots of research and soul searching I decided that a breast augmentation would improve my quality of life and restore my confidence.

I choose Dr. Salemy in Seattle due to his wonderful bedside manner, his portfolio of work, glowing reviews from former patients and personal recommendations. I scheduled a consultation, Dr. Salmey spent a good deal of time talking with me to determine what my motivations and desired outcome was. He was very forthcoming about the risks and complications. After taking some measurements, he gave me several options ranging from 286cc to 339cc gel implants. My husband picked the 339's right off the bat (surprise, surprise) but I was unsure if I should go that big. Its hard to know what they will look like on you. I ended up bringing a girlfriend back to get her opinion and some more clothes to try with the implants...she also choose the 339's for me. Dr. Salemy was really patient and helped me decide on the 339 as well. He thought it'd give me the best cleavage and a great overall appearance. He also told me that they'd look smaller once in (which I had read and ended up being very true). I was also impressed than when asked for a bigger set of implants (which were 371cc) he told me very kindly that if I wanted to go bigger I'd have to see another dr. The 371's would not give me the result I was going for and would overwhelm my small frame.

With that decided, we had to pick a date. I have to say his staff and Dr. Salemy personally handled this flawlessly. I had to coordinate care for my 3 children under 4 with no family and a busy working husband. Dr. Salemy was so accomodating of my husband's work schedule and even offered to start an hour earlier to fit us in before my husband's busy season of work started. There was a lot to plan...preschool carpooling, activites and my youngest was experiencing separation anxiety and would only go to 2 people besides my husband and myself.

My surgery was at the beginning of February. On the day of, Dr. Salemy and his staff made me feel so comfortable and put me at ease. My nurse was beyond wonderful! The anesthesiologist was fantastic...I've dealt with some really cranky ones before! I told him that I have woken up vomitting in the past and itchy. He assured me those symptoms would not happen this time and he was right. The operating room is kept cold and they covered me with a soft warm blanket, put me to sleep and I awoke with wonderful new beewbies! I asked to see them and the nurse pulled back the blanket. I already had my post op bra on but couldn't believe I was looking at myself with actual big girl boobs!! Thrilled:)

I went home and slept most of that day on and off. Getting up out of bed was challenging but less so than with my previous c sections. I took all my pain meds as scheduled, especially the muscle relaxers. I was uncomfortable but never in agony. I was surprised that the pain wasn't worse. My post-op was a day or two sooner than usual because Dr. Salemy was going out of town and he was adamant that he see me personally and that I not see one of his partners. I was foggy from the pain meds, but it went well and he was pleased with my results and said I was healing great...yay! I had help with my kids each day until my husband returned from work that whole week (surgery was on a Monday). By Friday I was feeling a ton better and was up and about but still trying to take it easy. Sleeping wasn't hard although you must sleep propped up...not a problem for me. But tummy sleepers may find it more difficult. They were very swollen for sometime. So it was hard to know how big they were going to be and they appeared a bit plastic looking. Even swollen and plastic looking I was happy...gone were my deflated tiny breasts!

I wore the post op bra day and night for 6 weeks (except for washing and the occasional break here and there). I continued to wear the post op bra at night for probably 8 weeks. I did the exercises exactly as directed. I went to all my scheduled post op appointments and followed Dr. Salemy's instructions to the tee. The hardest part for me was not lifting (I had an 18 month old at the time) and not reaching above my head (I didn't realize how much I reach up in a given day). My scars are minimal...he's truly an artist and my results are beyond fantastic! My breasts were over sensitive to the cold for about 8 weeks, a small price to pay but I was surprised by it.

I love my new body! When I went to get fitted for new bras I was surprised and delighted to be a 32DD!!! Sounds huge but its not and I can squeeze into a 32D if needed. I was worried that my new set would be super obvious but its easy to conceal when I don't want to be overt. But its also wonderful to show my ample cleavage for datenights with my wonderful husband. I have to give much deserved kudos to him for supporting me and understanding my need to do the costly surgery. He was surprised at how much he's enjoyed my new set, I'm not;)

I would do it all again..in a heartbeat.

I've had no problems resuming my normal activites, even running. Although with a much more supportive sports bra.
