Please don't - getting Sculptra is the biggest regret of my life

Sculptra - please don't!!

I got my first Sculptra treatment at the beginning of November - two vials. When I went in for my follow up exactly two months after, I had 0 results. Not a single noticeable change in my face. I knew I didn’t want a second round of sculptra because it was just too painful (thank god I didn’t) but my injector recommended some cheek filler to address the asymmetries I was originally trying to fix. She way overfilled me!! I waited for a month, completely in hiding until I went to get the filler dissolved because I knew it wasn't going to get any better. The injector agreed as well. I have no idea if it was just a timing coincidence or if the Hyaluronidase triggered an inflammatory response but the sculptra blew up!! My face completely changed in just one weekend. I look like a rectangle and completely lost all my feminine features. The sculptra was injected in my cheek bones and around the perimeter of my face and I feel like it's expanded and is just smooshing the rest of my face forward instead of pulling back and lifting/tightening. I have so much anxiety that it’s going to keep getting worse. Next week I have an appointment with my injector and a PS I had previously seen. I’m writing with the hopes that someone considering sculptra will really take the time to weigh out the benefits. And hoping anyone who recently got sculptra AND fillers and needs to dissolve will just wait it out. Right now, it’s the biggest regret of my life. I can’t go anywhere and I’m so terrified to look in the mirror. If anyone has any advice to stop the collagen growth from sculptra, please, please reach out.

How are your results now? Do you have any lumps? Did you do massages? Thanks!

I don't have any lumps. I did the 555 massages religiously. I'm still way overfilled. The plastic surgeon I saw told me all I can do is wait for the sculptra to go away. There's nothing I can do. I'm deeply depressed and have already been to the ER twice for panic attacks. Please avoid sculptra!!

Dear Heather, I hope you are doing better. I’m in the same situation as you. Sculptra destroyed my mental health and my life. I am currently in a mental clinic because I cannot cope with the changes in my once beautiful face. Have you found any relief or seen any improvement? I’m currently 5 months post and it’s a nightmare! Hugs from Germany

I hope this doesn't add to your despair but I am on year 3 and the sculptra is worse. I can see the scar tissue (it's not collagen) that it built under my delicate under eye skin where is migrated from my temples. It's a horrible product. The reason I'm replying is to share with you Ive read people have had success reducing the puffiness with infrared sauna. Good luck.

I can just add that the first good sign is when granulomas start softening but it takes time. I will continue next 3 months and update about the further progress. Ladies who are still thinking of taking or not taking Sculptra - NEVER do it - it has been the worst nightmare of my life

It’s happened to me as well. My face continues to blow up every day. I didn’t want the second session I was happy with one and my injector said I needed it. My petite pretty face is gone and I have constant burning tingling feeling in my face. This decision has ruined my life. Every morning I wake up with anxiety at how much more my face has grown overnight and im only at 10 weeks post 1st session. I don’t know what to do my injector told me it’s hormonal. I also have red under eyes some days like constant allergies. I look completely different and it’s aged me and I just don’t know when things will get better. Stay away from this poison! Im going to start IR saunas this week.

Have you guys heard of allopurinol? Look it up. Try searching for "foreign body granulomas allopurinol." There are case studies from various clinics around the world describing the off-label use of allopurinol for treating foreign body granulomas caused by certain fillers. The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it appears to enhance the body's immune system, gradually reducing inflammation. It can work but there is no guarantee and it can take time (after 1-2 months you could see some progress) but the potential side effects are much lower then steroids.
