Took about a week or more for the swelling to go down

Worst Experience EVER

I came to Dr. A initially wanting to get Kybella to remove my double chin as I was not very open to the idea of having lipo and wanted something less invasive. We went over the options (Kybella, Coolsculpting, and SculpSure) and we decided to go with SclupSure since she assured me it was painless and didn't involve any swelling or downtime. I was shown before and afters for the chin area with pretty drastic results after only 1-2 treatments so I was told I’d probably only need 2.
Let me tell you, it was the WORST pain I’ve EVER experienced in my 26 years of life and I have tattoos, gotten tattoos removed, had a few surgeries, teeth pulled, nothing compares to that pain. I also immediately started to swell like a bullfrog on my way out of the office just minutes after the treatment. My second treatment was even more painful and I was trying not to cry but couldn’t even help myself I was so distraught. I called my boyfriend after and basically cried all the way home and at home because the pain was so bad and not even medication was helping. Lots of swelling the second time around too.
As far as pain, swelling, and downtime, I would say lipo probably would’ve been the same if not way better than SculpSure in my experience. It took about a week or more for the swelling to go down after each treatment so that’s 2 extra weeks I had to walk around with an enormous double chin and not wanting to leave the house.
To top it all off I’ve had ZERO results. At my 12 week follow up from my second treatment, I was told that I’m the first one to have had the experience I described and that my results are because of a 1-2 lb weight gain I had. I tried to explain that I’ve always had extra fat under my chin even as an extremely thin and underweight person, so whether I’m 100 lbs or 176 lbs, I’ve always had the same amount of fat there which is why I wanted this procedure so badly. I was also told that 20% of people may not see optimal results and will need a 3rd treatment - something that wad only said to me AT MY FINAL FOLLOW UP.
There are exceptions and risks explained in the contract you sign at your consult as usual, but let me assure you, NOT A SINGLE WORD of any of that came out of Dr. A’s mouth it was all very positive and assuring that you’d get the results you want with no negatives. It’s important for providers to go over positive AND potential negative outcomes, not just the positive and leave the rest to a contract.
At the end of this experience, I feel mislead, unheard, blamed, and robbed. Now I get to spend thousands more to get lipo and actually get the results I wanted.

So sorry you experienced this too!! These Sculpsure providers should be ashamed of themselves

I bought a sculpsure session ( different doctor spa) . The first JOLT the paddle gave me almost made my eyes POP OUT from pain! The tech said OH YOU WILL GET ISED TO IT! The secong jolt was WORSE AND AS PAINFUL as childbirth! I insisted she remove the device. I had to argue to get a REFUND and they said NO until I said I'd get my ATTORNEY INVOLVED! PAIN HORROR AWFUL procedure!

It's the WORST pain ever! And I have a high tolerance for pain. My neck tattoo felt like a tickle in comparison. As far as I'm concerned these providers are dishonest criminals. I'm so sorry you had a similar experience to mine! But it sounds like you got a refund at least? In my case the consent forms I signed to be "treated" pretty much eliminated any hope of me getting my money back.

Another thing I wanted to mention was that during one of my sessions I was filmed by Dr. A and I was completely unaware of it. Some time later I was looking through her Instagram and there I was, I recognized myself and my tattoo. If you're going to film someone AND post it publicly, you should absolutely have the courtesy to ask before you pull your phone out and start sneaking videos and especially before posting it on social media. I had to ask her to remove it in order to preserve my privacy in this whole disaster.

That’s awful. All of it and the filming without consent seems very I’m immoral

*very immoral

Yeah it was really upsetting in every possible way, and of course they don't care, as long as their Birkin bags are paid for!

Hi, if you had an inflammatory reaction from the laser, there are two possibilities: 1) your dimpling under chin is really fat but the laser was focused at different depth. The fat could be either above or below the platisma muscle. 2) the dimpling is not fat but loose skin or muscle, in which case the laser won't help.
The doctor should refund the money or offer a substitute procedure for free. You have the right to not pay for service with no result. Sadly there is no law protecting your payment in such cases.

I'm not sure what you mean by dimpling - I have a lot of fat concentrated under my chin/jawline and I always have even when I was stick thin. I'm pretty sure the fat is over top of muscle. I'm only 26 years old so I definitely don't have loose skin or muscle under my chin yet. I absolutely agree that there should be an exception made and I should get my money back but this woman is a total pig and could care less about anything but making money. Instead I was offered $500 off a $1,500 Coolsculpting treatment. NO THANKS!

I realized some time after my follow up appointment, that at my final weigh in, Dr. A's assistant Alex weighed me with my shoes on and I was wearing more clothing than I was at my first weigh in during the summer. At my first weigh in with the Dr. A herself, she had me take my shoes off and I was only wearing a t-shirt and little shorts. The shoes and extra clothing alone would absolutely account for a 1-2 lb weight difference! I reached out to Dr. A via Instagram direct message and told her this plus confronted her more in depth about my experience overall and she "left me on read" so to speak. That's right, my messages were seen by her and she ignored me. Any sane professional person would at least have the courtesy to respond but I think she knows I'm right and she doesn't care. She has my money and that's what matters to her. Currently trying to get my money back through my bank/credit card company.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. Sculpture is so incredibly painful! I don't know how they get away with telling people it's painless.

SO PAINFUL! I almost fainted. I don't know how I made it through the treatment. I was doing Lamaze breathing technique to try to help. (It did not) At least if I had a tiny bit of a result ---but nothing. I've done laser bikini and that was a piece of cake next to Sculpture.

Yeah I have multiple tattoos, have gotten some of them lasered, teeth pulled, surgeries, nothing came close to the Sculpsure pain! I was crying uncontrollably during, right after, and hours after my second treatment the pain was just so unreal!

Did the lump under your chin ever go away?
April 28, 2019
Yeah for the most part I can't feel a lump but I think there's still some nerve damage in the spot that went numb from the treatments
February 22, 2023
The same thing happened to me. I paid $2100 for 3 vials of Kybella. I was swollen like a puffer fish for almost 2 months, when the swelling went down the fat was still there. I asked for a refund and was threatened with legal proceedings if I left a bad review as I stated I will expose this.
Thanks again about bringing up the pain issue; I feel like they donwplay it to sell it.
